Good shout. 2 billion per aircraft including the development costs i would think is in the ball park.
I'll say Davy, as he used electrolysis, and is the only one I really remember from years back.
For some reason Dalton is in my mind....
Not in my list, sure your on the same subject?
No no................That would have been, Who was the worst 'James Bond' ever?!!For some reason Dalton is in my mind....

Antoine Lavoisier another good call but sadly not, he named Oxygen & Hydrogen, predicted Silicon and proved that Sulphur was an element but didn't actually first discover any. His main input to chemistry was disproving the theory of phlogiston being the element that was present in fire.Yup. Turns out that John Dalton was a key figure in 'atomic theory'. Dalton was, apparently, the first to propose (based on experimentation) that each chemical element is composed of atoms of a single, unique type. But he seems not to have actually discovered any elements!
Maybe a clue many of the elements he discovered only exist for short periods of time
