Radar detectors....license savers or pointless in 2011?

I have a RoadPilot micro in the QP...was already installed when I bought her...
find it useful when on roads that I do not know...

mine also has some kind of laser attachment that detects (does not jam) the mobile 'guns' that get pointed at cars sometimes...

It does work P...certainly gives off a bleep to warn you (distance to camera is configurable)...
The 'laser gun' bit has gone off a few times (probably only 9 or 10) in the past 2 years, but I cannot say I have seen anybody
pointing anything at me...so I guess that is some kind of phantom signal it picks up.
The subscription is not expensive, I think I paid £80 for 3 years...but the big question, will Florence be getting one?
