Little snippit in Auto Italia this month...

"Railsavers has alerted us to a limited number of free car places on trains travelling to Alessandria, near Milan, on selected dates in 2011, sving you up to £273. "no driving through indifferent weather in northern Europe, no fuel and toll costs, and no overnight hotels." say Railsavers. see www.railsavers.com or call 01253 595555"

Just as important Enzo can save a few thousand miles off a long european trip , thought about this last year , when i fancied doing another trip made sense to me to take the hardship out of a long slog down there and home again and just doing the odd 1000 miles around the area you want to visit

Would be interested in this as an improptue forum event, maybe contact railsaves and make a little marketing event for them, 4 or 5 Maseratis going back to there home town, FOC courtesy of railsavers.

What a fantastic idea, always wanted to drive to Italy but a long way, this looks like a great alternative and makes it a short stay holiday instead of 10 days which I think more of us could manage.

this seems to be very reasonable, if you consider the cost of fuel to do the equivelent road miles, its cheaper. you save time, lots of it, not cost for overnight accomodation on route. wake up refreshed and ready to start your southern european tour.
I'm going to look at this for next years trip.

if we can get a group booking and get it down to £200, then great idea. I do think I would like to drive one way though, probably the way there.

Is'nt that 200 each way though. it's still cheaper than a 2000 mile round trip by road.

just spend a week driving around the Italian lakes and visiting car museums sounds like a great plan
