Range Rover advice

I'm loving the way the new Full Fat Ranger Rover looks outside - beautiful and stylish. Reductive Luxury or whatever it was that McGovern said at the launch....

What I'm less sure about is the new HVAC panel and Gearstick surround that JLR have put in many it's newer cars, along with the shiny black steering wheel buttons, not all that befitting of a 100K car to me.
We can all have another moan about touch screens - a solution to a problem that nobody had and only look good in brochures and showrooms. Buttons and knobs!

Weight and complexity (and I'm no fan of touch screens)

Yup, haptic touchy things be dammned!

Don't mind a touch screen as long as backed by plenty of buttons and wheel controls, ones that actually press and click.

Luxury started to become having a huge screen but for me that's now regressing, having shiny colour mini screens for everything big and small doesn't really feel like progress or tactile quality.

Got the new big new Tonka Toy today. Jolly comfy it is too!
Couldn’t be doing with the 2 year queue, so bought the demo car.

Very nice

Meanwhile, at the other end of RR ownership my 2006 4.2SC passed the mot yesterday

Only issue was the battery has had it so I've ordered a new one , there's a receipt with the car from the garage that fitted it so it's under warranty but they're on the Isle of skye so that's some round trip for a warranty claim

I'll send an email to bosch to see if they'll do anything about it.

Suspension components and brakes were the usual suspects on mine. Also had the battery changed under warranty.

And I found out there's an outstanding recall on it ,flexible front brake pipe so I've sent an email to guy salmon

I had an xk8 10 years ago that went in for a recall

A week later there was a thud like a phone book had landed on the front mat, it was a RR Vogue brochure pack , must've cost £20 to print it

Low rate finance for existing jaguar Land rover customers
I think it was
£30,000 deposit
35 payments of £999
Option to keep £36,000

I just started laughing, boy have you sent that to the wrong house :D

Suspension was all ok and it had brakes all round last MOT

the good thing about old range rovers is there's thousands being broken and new parts are reasonable , pads on the front , discs and pads on the back, diagnostics, new abs sensor and exciter ring all fitted for under £500

I had this idea of spending money on it to sort the minor issues but the voice of reason has said just drive it , spend the money on petrol

It needs a few mechanical things , rear prop centre bearing but it's only £300 for a complete new prop

The viscous fan is really noisy , sounds like a jet engine when it kicks in but it's spinning freely so it'll have to come off to make sure it's not a pulley bearing before i buy a new fan

If they'd looked on the cctv before they sent the brochure they might've thought I was an eccentric millionaire

I'd been working in the garden before I dropped it off , apart from string to hold my trousers up I looked like a tramp

Good friend took delivery a few months ago. They are incredibly comfortable, whether in the front or laid back in the rear.
Another friend has just ordered a LWB version, 2 years wait and another the Sport, 18 months.
All my close mates infact have either FF or Sport Rangies.
I'm the weird one of the group with regard to car choices!

Turns out my RR does have an outstanding recall for brake pipes so I'll be heading for the posh side of Cheshire to get it done.

I think one look at the car will put the salesman straight as to whether I'm in the market for a new one

Though it will look smarter , just picked up a set of 21" L405 wheels off a 2020 car , taken off at 100 miles
