Spent an afternoon in Marlow in a pub opposite The Ivy watching those that like to be seen in the window of The Ivy

Charity shops full of clothes ,shoes and handbags because all people do is dress to be seen , did pick up a pair of £435 worn twice trickers for £30 so not all bad

Watched a bloke park a Ferrari FF (with a very crunchable nose) in a space not big enough, a foot from a fiesta that had many battle scars and just walk away .

I ordered a drink for my wife and I , a large pinot and a pint of peroni , paid with contactless not really paying attention to the price

2nd round she said have they charged me right £16.55

What , so I check my online banking and yes £16.55 for 2 drinks , welcome to the home counties.

It's not really a rant, though if I had an 800k budget I'd be quite disappointed if the estate agent showed me this

I was paying £11.65 for a G&T last night just round the corner from Marlow, it’s how things are for us in the South.
People often moan that wages are higher i. The South and it’s more prosperous, but the cost of living including housing means I could move up North on half my current salary, buy a bigger house and still be better off.
But I don’t want to live up North, it is what it is.
Personally I I’ve the fact the guy parked his FF in the space available and got on with his day, would you have rather seen him driving round and around or parking across two bays.

I accept that , horses for courses , I have no desire to live in the south , even if I had the money , too expensive and too congested

I've only even had one new out of the box car and it was the Mustang , it's just alien to me to park it a foot from a 15 year old fiesta with scuffed bumpers both ends and not worry about it , even if I had the money to buy 5 replacements in the bank I'd still be the same, people just don't care and will drive off if they hit it

There are plenty of places within half an hour of Marlow where drinks would cost less but they would steal the Fiesta.

As for the FF, a lot of people buy cars commensurate with their job/income/wealth* but are not really interested in the car itself just the messaging it creates.

*Where I live in rural Scotland lots of people with big estates/farms just have a Ford Ranger or equivalent so it all depends. Meanwhile in Aberdeen you see lots of higher end cars parked on drives in front of euroboxes. Pays your money...........

Nah looks rubbish , something that looks like an ex council flat is much more appealing , have you never watched location location location
That sort of money would buy you this here https://www.pamgolding.co.za/property-details/4-bedroom-house-for-sale-camps-bay/bay335298

4 bedroom, 2 flatlets, views to die for in one of the best areas of Cape Town - maybe a bit far though…

How much do you have to budget for armed security to follow you round in a tank though

Anyone have experience with Ovo Energy ?
They are chasing me for £1100 for when my UK house was empty whilst it was for sale during the end of last year to when it sold in May this year.
I have never seen a bill and they wont post or email me one.
I'm not calling them until I have the facts in front of me so I can see what it's all about which I think is reasonable.
Having been away from the UK since 2014 I have never heard of this shower of shite.

I think they are the top-rated energy company for customer service in the UK. (!)

If you were on out of contract rates, and there was power being used (freezer for example) it’s quite possible that your bill is that high.
I’ve used Ovo for commercial procurement, and they’re normally pretty good.

that's just ridiculous how are you supposed to check and settle an account if they wont send you a proper bill, especially as you've now asked for a copy, gets on my goat when speaking to some of these dumb **** people at utility companies

Have tried phoning which goes to automated message asking for an account number which I don't have so can't speak to anyone.
Absolute madness.
