rear demister and radio reception

Whenever my rear window demister is turned on either by me or the Italian bloke sat in the dashboard (he also turns the dash lights on and off when he gets bored) the radio reception turns to poo - any ideas? I know that the rear window demister elements also receive the radio signal but that's pretty much as far as I understand - the rest is just witchcraft to me. It's a 2000 3200GTA if that makes any difference?

Alfa 156's used to have the same arrangement and problem. No one I know ever found a fix.

Capacitor in the antenna line should sort it out.
