Removable (ahem) front numberplate

I wouldn’t go blocking grilles. You’ll find a different cooler under the bumper line to above it so you’ll be blocking the whole thing. Could be coolant, oil, tranny, ac, pas. Something won’t like it.
Well I assumed it was for temporary purposes. On closer inspection there is an air scoop behind. Nothing above though.
Remove it or don't I say. Not sure what the fascination for removing them is tbh.

Is the bottom grill a suitable ferrous material? If it was you could sit the plate on the chin spoiler and use a roll of magnetic tape

I followed this same thought process, with the same conclusion!

The rationale is that I think they look better without, plus I want the front cleaned and up and PPF'd. An easily removable plate seems a good way of achieving the aesthetic goal and the regulatory requirement. Almost all of the time. :)

OK, I did this and works great IMHO. I used hard drive magnets (Pry an old one open, has one or two each). I slid these in to the grill slats from behind, they are hollow. I then made a backing plate for my plate, with corresponding magnets and forks to go around the back of each grill slat. the forks do the mechanical work, the magnets keep the forks hooked.

Sounds complicated, but is really easy. Happy to take pix. Tested to "very fast" on a closed circuit. Officer.

would be nice to see, might want to change something up once the bumper goes off to the bodyshop.

Have you got enough clearance to fit one of those 007 retractable plates either under where it is now or under the carbon spoiler? 3m it on and have it on a remote.

I think I'm going to try to find time to give a :) for every 'grille' and a  for every 'grill' from now on....

Why not get some rare earth magnets from ebay, drill and epoxy them into the bumper then skim and paint?

This definitely feels like the answer. Just a bit fiddly to get them in through the holes in the bumper and glued in place.

Maybe you could slide one of these in through a slot at an angle, and then pull it into place with another magnet:

What about this non sticky sticky stuff.

I have some of this, and it is VERY strong on dry, shiny non-porous surfaces (like bumpers and numberplates). You would just need a couple of squares, not a strip. But it's kinda single-use if it gets grubby or fluffy.

If there is a crash panel behind the bumper section, strong magnets on the plate may work.

How about this.....solves the blocked grille solution.

Create a template of the number plate.

Cut lettering out carefully and then position said lettering template dead of centre in the lower grille.

Take a brush and some white paint and carefully paint/ fill in the exposed grille metal areas in the cut out letter areas.

Stand back and admire ones genius/work.

No?

I didn’t think so.

Adam. The law says that the letters/numbers have to be a legal height. Not the whole plate.
Get a plate that fits that remit. It looks like the difference in that height and the bumper would be negligible.
