Hopefully Bladerunner will be along to tell us. Or our leader Matt, after a quick chat with Ashley.

For those of you looking how to remove and refit the 1/R unit in the MC Shift or Stradale...
Just done mine tonight...took about an hour...here goes a walk through:

Step 1

Remove centre console cards...drivers side, pops out on left hand side of card (3 pins) and slide down right side to remove. For passenger side, pop out right side and left side slides down.

Take care here as the fixings can be quite brittle. Mine are already a little damaged from a prior removal.

Step 2 Remove inserts from cup holders and using a size 4 hex bit, unscrew the 2 bolts

Step 3 Remove ashtray to reveal and remove bolt 3
Excuse the dust on mine-needs a good clean!

Step 4 Use a small flathead screwdriver to gently prize off the traction control (?) button to reveal and remove bolt 4

Step 5 Now you can lift up the whole console levering it away from the stereo
Be careful as some wired connection will obviously be attached and limit range of movement

Step 6 On the underside locate the 3 screws holding in the 1/R panel (either side of and below) the brown connecting block. These can now be removed using a Philips or flathead

77822

Step 7 Slide back the lever on the brown connecting block to detach from the 1/R unit

Step 8 Push the unit from the underside and it will easily come loose to remove and refit
Now reverse the steps - be sure to connect the brown connecting block fully and maybe test before putting it all back together!

Nice write up - thanks
I had just had mine replaced in the GTS (new owner gets the benefit) but have noticed that the Strad has early signs of the inevitable deterioration so this will be a job at some point.

You’re a star that’s my next job sorted. Along with replacing the new boot handle which I received yesterday.

Many thanks for posting that!

Solved after abit of trial and error. I took the metal plate off you see in the last photo of the guide, took the 4 silver screws out you can see in my photo then popped the button and leather part out. Off it goes to sir Roland for some magic.

One thing i found annoying is how all the fake leather is all stuck together on parts. Be super careful taking things apart.

Sorry BDM only just saw this but yes, you did right removing the screws and then the buttons/leather unit should push upwards to separate from the console if you push it from underneath.

Looks like you managed it in the end...probably a spilt drink or something in the past stuck them together

I can now see it’s one piece and part of the screen surround…
Yes it is, I’ve not removed the stereo or buttons but plenty of people have for the CarPlay retrofit.

It might be as simple as popping off the dash trim that runs above the glove compartment and across to the steering wheel, to gain access to the head unit screws

Be good to see a how to if you’re going to give it a go!
