If you are not loosing coolant I think the first check for overheating is are the fans running at two speeds if at all? Next I’d crack the bleed bolts on the front of the engine to check for air lock/trapped.

Yesterday, when I arrived from a drive I saw some drops on the floor, but I think it was condensation water from the air conditioning, as we are over 30s C now in Madrid. It also smell like water, but not sure. I will check the level anyway. The heating problem I think is going to be the thermostat, I changed it last summer and this was fixed, but for any reason is overheating again when pushing hard. What I have no clue is the performance issue, so maybe this MAF could be something to be checked. I have localized what it is in the US forum, so lets see if I can disconnect it and go for a drive with it unplugged.

I have unplugged the MAF sensor and will go for a test drive later today. Hopefully it is breathing free at high revs! Please, could you advice if there is any risk of driving with this unplugged? Any side effect? Will the engine fault light turn on?

When you say it won't rev beyond 5-6k revs, is it like a limiter, cutting the ignition? Do you have an ABS / MSP fault?

When I had a problem with one of my wheel speed sensors the ECU would limit the engine speed for safety to 5500 rpm.
Exactly the same thing happened to mine in France on the Monaco or Bust trip. The rev problem sorted itself out when we crossed the Italian border but the ABS/MSP fault was still present.

Have you checked all the earthing straps and connections?
