Older Thread alert!

Has anyone ever just disabled their headlight washers so they don't have to worry about losing the covers? If so, how did you do it? Personally I just can't see the need for a headlight washer if you keep your car any kind of clean!

I never use mine if I can help it they still fell off,I just think over time the plastic just let’s go due to heat cycles

As they only spray if the lights are on dipped beam I just switch to side lights or dont use... then again I hardly use the car enough to get the screen dirty.

Have you tried tying them on with a bit of fishing line?

My right side cover (looking from inside the car) continues to be a problem. I bought it from the 3d printed batch above on this forum. The longer attachment prong separated twice. I used industrial glue to re-attach it to the cover. I have used the safety wire hack to not lose the cover. The roads where I live are nightmarishly bumpy and its only a matter of time before I lose another one. I’m going to glue these covers on permanently soon but I would like to disable/remove the inner washer paraphernalia first.

Is it not part of the mot so you cannot disable permanently?

I’m in California. My GS is LHD. Biennial Ca. vehicle inspections also don’t include the headlight washer system thankfully.

There are two pumps, one for the windscreen washer and another for the headlight washers. Unplug the headlamp pump and it won’t work when the lights are on.

Thanks for the info. I'm responding as Billmao now as stjon1088 has been deactivated.
