Ok, sorry to be a pain. I shouldn't sweat the small stuff but this one has wound me up.

Tried the washer jets today as the screen was dirty and the driver's side one doesn't work. Water is getting to it but not coming out. Hmmm. Basically it had been turned shut using the little adjuster screw thing. Tried to adjust it but it's stuck fast and the screw head thing is already a bit chewed as it's plastic so I'm reluctant to start swinging on it. What a dumb design.

So, how does one take the jet off? I'm loathe to risk breaking anything but I can't see how it'll come off. If I could get it off I could probably free it or if not, be able to pop a new one on. Looking on euros ares it says something about them being part of the whole under windshield unit or something. Surely they don't expect you to buy a complete new system just for a stuffed washer jet?

Aha. Fixed it. The jets come off by prizing either side with a flat screwdriver. Did it really carefully at first but they're actually really robust.

Got the thing moving then with some care and some wd40. Still much stiffer than the other one but it's working now so.......

After getting it moving a combo of poking the holes with a pin and then holding it onto the front of the jet wash (yes, safety is my middle name) saw whatever was blocking it blown out. Did the other side as well while I was at it. Much better now. Phew.

Good effort Ben. At least you've given the rest of us the confidence to do the same should we ever need to. Thanks.

Yeah, was thinking just that. The rest of the system seems ok. I've heard that VWs can be hugely sensitive and only like their own screenwash which incidentally is brilliant stuff so I might get some of that.

My élan had sat for a couple of tears when I got it and was totally blocked. Thing is, the tank is in the boot and the pipe runs underneath the carpet in the cabin. Before stripping the car down I tried so brute force by unplugging it all at the front then attaching the jet was to the end if the pipe. A couple of seconds of straining from the jetwash then 'boom' and the solidified gunk was blown out the other end. Sorted!
