Well

Just paid £500 smackers to those lying cheating morally corrupt bunch of lunatics that think they are better than me who masquerade as our public servants, for the joy of driving a beautiful piece of engineering on some of the worse roads in Europe for one year

It's annoying to be sure, but £500 road tax plus £500 insurance is a small daily price to pay for the pleasure ... Heck young colleagues pay £1500+ just for insurance :)

I'm confused - why are those with 2004 MY cars paying £500 for road tax? The cut off point for the higher tax is March 2006 from memory.

Seems a crazy backward step with no visual tax disc, what happens if DD payment from someone's bank fails? as happened to a colleague with unpaid insurance direct debits.

Just got mine through this morning, £500 FFS!

At lease I stuffed it to Chichester Council and got them to pay for a new wheel and tire last year, had to go to court 4 times mind you as the cheating, lying b@stards tried all the tricks to make me give up....but they obviously didn't know just how persistent I am.....well, they do now.

Both mine are late 05 so just made it into the "cheap" tax cut off. It's odd that this matters to me given what else I spend looking after them but for some reason, I'm happy to hand out money to people that are looking after the cars but not at all happy to hand it to the government for the pleasure of potholes, bumps, roadworks and attitude. Go figure! :)

Don't throw them away, they may suddenly delay it due to some computer problem at HQ..!! I might just frame mine and put it on the wall in the loo..!!

Yep, I wouldn't chuck them away just in case... well not until they had expired anyway.

It riles me like Matt says - I have 5 smacked up wheel rims caused by pothole damage and only 1 successful claim from the council - they make it so difficult to claim and try to wriggle out of every possible corner - I won the last one but what an effort!
How hum - perhaps I should buy a Prius and live with it - instead I shall run a 400bhp V8 supercar and say b0ll0x to you all

Ps and pay for the privelidge
