I don't see how they justify a surcharge for those who choose 6 months because of their financial position. I noticed an older ford ka at work £170!! That's robbery !

Just taxed my Tag axle motorhome £165 for 12 months, a bit of a bargain considering its 8.5m long and 4500kg

I guess it shouldn't be the case but if you are after an early QPV, going for an early 04/05 plate car over an 06/07 and saving 215 quid a year on the road tax does make a bit of sense!

Free clutch change every 10 yrs of ownership! :D

Some years ago they abolished tax on cars built before 1972/3 or something like that.
It's never been raised, surely that's unfair - when it was introduced (I can't remember when) cars 25 years old were exempt tax, the cut off date has remained - there are some cracking 25 year old cars available now - but road tax is still payable

From April 2014, the classic car exemption from VED began rolling from 40 years, which means that cars built before January 1974 are now eligible for a tax disc at the nil rate.

And from last year....pre 1960 build cars are MOT exempt, which may not be the best of ideas!

Just missed out on the rolling 25 years, 15 years later I will catch it next year with my Stag!
Every little helps!
