Hi Forum

Does anyone know where I can purchase two rear track adjuster rose joint bushes for a 2005 Maserati 4200? I tried Eurospares, but they only supply the total component as opposed to individual elements (see the attached image)

You looking for part 8, Omar?

I'm guessing not, as that's listed on the Eurospares site for £42

I believe the part is the element I have circled in the attached picture. I'll double check with my mechanic.

Ahhh

Felice is good at many things, but answering his emails may not be one of them (assuming it's still down at Sunnyside)

You'd think a generic one would fit....

You can get them from most SKF bearing stockist, there about £15/20 each, the last batch I ordered came direct from the factory in Germany

Guess you guys have it figured out already but Omar the part you circled is a radial spherical plain bearing that can be pressed out of the OEM tie rod sleeve. Look for part number GE 15 C. Adam gave us the part number when I did the write up on the custom tie rod kits. The item above it is a modified tie rod assembly with the sleeve threaded and a Rose joint attached. Someone used a cheap rose joint in that assembly with a pressed in race and well after a few years the race came out. The technology has advanced significantly from that one. Actually now that I think of it let me know if you want OEM tie rods with the radial spherical plain bearings in them. I took them off my car and I have been kicking them from one shelf to the next since I took them off the car.

That's exactly what I have done to mine and it makes so much easier to set the alignment up.
Phil.
Happier today as gave the 4200 a good thrashing yesterday.

I posted this some months ago here after Catman saw it in the U.S. forum and thought it would be nice to have it posted on SportsMaserati. I did not cut up my tie rod sleeves which is why I was offering them above. I didn't use Heim/Rose joints with pressed in races, and they have a much higher dynamic load capacity than the Fluro joints. Here is the link to it on this forum. http://www.sportsmaserati.com/showthread.php/11530-3200-4200-Spyder-and-GranSport-Aftermarket-Rear-Tie-Rod-replacement?highlight=heim+joint

Given that Omar's car is off road I believe, the simpler answer maybe David Askew. Although it's undoubtedly a less good solution than Craig's, it may well be 'good enough'

Yes David will still have some as he bought all the bearings I had left over...

I don't have any sets left over I sold all but one anyway ( its on hold for someone else). I have to reorder the tie rod sleeves. To date I have sold 40 complete sets and only one person had a difficult time but that was another story. He wasn't a mechanic and I definitely think that there were other things going on there.

Catman don't worry I didn't forget about your July visit. I would have already re-ordered them by then. Actually I would love to find a garage in the area and put it up on the lift for us to walk under it to see both the tie rods and ball joint covers. I don't know whether we will have time for that, or if I can find a garage that would excuse their insurance company to do so at least in the city. If we came up towards the north shore we could ask Steve at the Aston Martin dealership to put it up for us. He's a great guy. It would take us a bit of time to get out of the city especially during rush hours though so I don't think it's plausible.

Would be cool Craig.

Unlikely though, I think, given my usual workload when I'm out there.

I will be asking a favour though, but I'll pm you :)

So response from mechanic is that the correct item is actually the item above the one I originally circled. I've circled the correct item.

If that is true someone has already altered your tie rod sleeves .....they do not come from the factory that way. But just so we can make sure could you please take a picture of yours on the car and post it. These cars do not come stock with this type of racing link. Additionally, find out the thread size and I can direct you to get some of the best for your application. Preferably I would recommend you use a Rose Joint without a pressed in Race. It should be tops about $25 US Dollars per side. If you follow the link I posted above, I think I talk about the differences, Pros/Cons of which Rose Joints I used.
