Satnav traffic news and dynamic routing greyed out

My 07 QP has the navigation options "Traffic News" and "Dynamic" guidance greyed-out and unavailable. I've been all through the manual and the user interface and can't find any way of activating them. The manual assumes the options are working. It's running with a set of 2012/13 Bosch DX/Tomtom navigation CDs bought by a previous owner and these are the only CDs supplied with the car. Nav works fine apart from this issue. I've found some posts elsewhere talking of a 2009 map CD update that enables traffic/TMC, so I wonder if my later update has disabled it.

Anyone know what's up and whether there's a fix?

It must be your Tomtom Nav disc - have you tried using a Maser disc to verify ?

Buy a Tomtom and stick it to the sat nav screen! It works much better though admittedly looks a bit cr@p.

Have you enabled 'TA' in the radio menu? Does it say 'TMC Seek' at the bottom of the radio screen, or does it display a station name? Usually Classic FM...

I have a 2010 map CD in mine, which does enable TMC - I can sort you a 'test' copy of that if you want?

TA is on. I'm getting traffic news interrupting the radio (not Classic FM ). No TMC seek, though.

I have a recent Garmin with free digital traffic (much more frequent over DAB, more data, no need for mobile data), which I recommend. Works well in France, Switzerland, Germany and Belgium (as does the car!). But it would be nice to get the Maser system fully working for when I don't have the Garmin with me.

My CD is the correct update CD for the car, Blaupunkt is part of Bosch and Tomtom acquired Teleatlas, hence the Tomtom branding on the 12/13 update. Not tried an older CD as I only have this one. Says it's for the M139.

South Suffolk. Maybe that's it - we don't have traffic jams round here

Has anyone got a spare cope of the UK Satnav disk? My car only had Italy maps. I'll pay for the UK one.

I've found one area where the Nav on my Maser is better on my one year old Land Rover Disco. On the latter the altimeter is way out but it is pretty much spot on on the Maser.

Is that South Suffolk or North Essex as I presume that the former is worth more on a house than the latter?
