So I was flicking through my GTS owners manual and saw this

But having taken a look, hoping to find a stash of notes it looks like I'm missing something?

Where's my secret staging place ??

Thing is the contour in the pic matches the plastic underside bit of the armrest lid. But the bottom of the actual armrest compartment is flat. It's almost as if I'm missing a bottom cover from the underside plastic bit

You are perhaps right when I look at it. Makes me wonder why the bulky plastic bit under the lid, it actually gets in the way if you have a few things in there and your u have to rearrange to get the lid shut

I imagine any change in there will rattle as well :)

My change lives in one of the cup holders.

Never mind, looks like no secret stash's of cash to be found tonight then

They say it is for coins? That is a lot of room to store coins! I store all my junk in there.

Does the inner centre piece come out of the armrest? ( The part that's raised in the picture,) If not why put it there?

Maybe it was designed in the days of the Lira and a lot of coins were required to buy anything....

Totally agree with it getting in the way. I wondered if it was there to keep bottles upright. If it was a cheaper car I would have cut most of that plastic off!

I have the phone fitted in my QP which takes up all the useful space in the drinks cabinet. Kids were crying with mirth when I showed the "fitted phone" off to them when I got the car. Very 2000s. When did the law come in which banned used of non hands free phones? Can the cradle which holds the phone be removed to free up space so I can actually put stuff in there or would I need to replace the whole lid thing?

This is exactly what I was thinking, I wondered if the bottom was missing and there was some sort of Freemason style secret handshake you did with the handle and a tray full of pieces of gold popped out. Pointless bit of plastic isn't it

You can't have a lot of junk! I can get a pair of sunglasses in there and that's about it. It seems that the bit attached to the lid is ridiculously and unnecessarily bulky, and takes up too much of the space.
