Took my old seiko quartz chronograph to a specialist watch repairer today.
A bit special, it was my 18th birthday present in the mid 80's.
Ok not a Cartier, maybe £150 back then, but a watch I can remember lusting after through the shop window, the worlds first quartz chronograph.
It died 20 years ago, and at the time I was told it was not repairable due to battery corrosion.
Anyway today the specialist took the back off to have a look, and then proceeded to 'jump start' the circuitry to see if it had a 'pulse'!
I was like an expectant father, with my fingers crossed, and it worked!
It will cost me a few hundred in new old stock parts, reclaimed parts, cleaning and pressure testing, but should be as good as new.
Recently discovered that it was also the last Seiko watch worn by James Bond in a View to a kill, how cool is that!
Just thought I would share.
