That's easy - stop at home - it's much cheaper, the food's better and you [usually] know who's been in the bed!

A couple of years back when we had a small baby we had a week at home and treated like being away on holiday, out for dinner every day, trips to country pubs for lunch lots of wine, think of all the day trips in the UK that you have always wanted to go but never got round to it. Plan the week in advance.

Just you and hubby , or are you looking to go with some more couples Andrea , my mates place in France ( near Angers) is ideal for two or more couples , can take up to 5 couples comfortably , lovely setting with a big lake stocked with carp and other species , surrounding area has some lovely picturesque villages, 5 hour drive from Calais , 2 hours from Le Havre

regards loz

that sounds nice... i did consider (not ruled out) finding a fishermans cottage and having a lazy week in the uk with coffee and morning papers, walking and cooking local produce with copius wine to accompany... but not sure where.

If you want quiet and relaxing and are happy to play roulette with the weather, these a gorgeous hotel on Alderney - can't remember the name, will look it up in a mo.
We pulled in there on my mate's yacht when we were doing the Channel Islands before coming back across to the UK. Always meant to go back there myself.

If it was me and the wife..I think a romantic week in Italy...Rome, marenello and some stunning Italian lakes.
