Looking at all the results from that Auction the market has cooled off a lot for classics. Usually an indication of impending financial crisis.

Hard to make an informed judgement of the limited info in post #1 A 2005 4200; Miles? History? Condition? lots of variables. Add in a dealers mark up and prep and the car is c14/15k, which with the time of year and miles dependent is typical market price for the car.

So similar price and miles to the one I sold in 2011 (2004 MY)... So a good price I would say via an auction.

That will be the price incl commission. There was a 2005 M5 V10 that went for £6k, that's a lot of car for the money.
Erm did you see the mileage?

Not for the feint hearted owned many and that could be bankruptcy stuff.

Crikey....highest I've seen for an E60/E61 M5.

I'd have no issue running a W211/S211 E55K at that mileage....but M5....not sure it makes sense.

Imagine it next day, VANOS goes, then clutch, then gearbox actuator, cars value gone!!!! Engines are 12k replacement!!!! Not for the feint hearted that one. I love them though and still lust for another.

Agreed...I'd have another tmrw as well but much better to spend a few k more to get less of a ticking time bomb. You can get decent looked after ones with VANOS rebuilt with less than 80k miles for less than 15k. I'm sure with some canny buying 10-12k would buy something decent soon.
