(apologies for the duplicate post on the other site)
Well after quite some deliberation the 70K Med Blu Gransport on PH finally has a loving home.
After much investigation I am confident that the 70K mileage is genuine - as is/was the chap selling it - top fella.
Yes she badly needs a 68.5K service, and yes the clutch is at 83%, but Bill McGrath had trouble finding much else wrong with her to be honest. Emblem are going to sort out the necessary on Nov 1st, but for now I have my dream car sat in my garage and I have the biggest smile on my face.
Somehow she's done 65K on the current clutch - some kind of record it seems, but the 1st owner seemes to have spent his life going up and down the motorway so minimal wear and tear hopefully (fingers crossed).
Like most first time owners I'm reading the manual cover to cover and just love this excerpt on page 108:
"Gear shifting is "faster" if requested with the accelerator pedal pressed down to the floor and when exceeding 7.000 rpm. Under these conditions, even on dry roadbeds, the driving wheels could start to skid (particularly in low gears)"
Does paint a picture of the type of driver somewhat. So far I've been very restrained, almost fearful I guess. I've had big power cars before, but nothing I've respected quite so much.
Well, wish me luck and pray to god that I'm paving the way for high mileage GS's as this one is is going to be no garage queen!
Cheers,
Neil
