Spares?

There are certainly specialist wreckers who look out for these opportunities in each country. We have a couple in Australia I know of and you have Forum Sponsors like SopranoStu, EuroSpares amongst others. But as your question asks would it be cost effective to bring damaged stock in from another country?
I suppose it depends on the rarity, price and hassle.
Good question.

David Askew pretty much started out by doing this, bringing cars into the country from Italy and it has served him for many years. Still the go to man for all kinds or parts and advise

A QPV for about £600 plus shipping must have about £5-10k worth of spares in it.

Don't think I have ever seen one this colour:

And it has the bose system that several need on here. The black 4.7 currently at 200 dollars has to be worth 4k in engine alone. Buy a container and find a local garage to strip out the best and rare bits and scrap the rest. Nice solid subframes if in a dry state too!

The biggest issue is storage. Some wreckers have high turnover parts, but I think some of these would be idle for ages. You could potentially have a situation where you're holding assets for a long time before you can convert them to spares or cash.

Agreed, but I would strip the high value and hard to get bits only and not the plug of the end of a wiring loom or a rusty old bolt like you see on the bay. Strip, crate and send over.
