James Martins wife......

Pretty certain James isn't married Andy. That's his co-driver from the Mille Miglia I think. Not only is she a ****-hot professional racing driver, but she's a girl!!!!! Who'da thought.

That was his girlfriend the ex-modul turned photographer Sally Kettle. Not sure they're together now?

Give me sometime but I am seriously thinking of, one day, organising a Targa Florio-type event in Sicily for Maseratisti.

Yep, I'd have to agree Matt, she'd get the workings of the internal combustion engine and, unlike her culinary Yorkshire pudding of a co-driver, wouldn't have reduced the internal moving parts of a reputed £300K piece of vintage Italian automotive engine rebuilding to a pile of swarf within hours of starting the Mille Miglia!

Oh, hang on, just re-read your post, you mean you'd **** her! Doh.:lol2:

That's why she went along as "official" photographer. That chef guy behaved like a wazzock all the way through. The Italian garagistes saw him coming and fleeced him roundly when he bought the car and then the guy who rebuilt the car expensively promptly disappeared when it dropped the valve. I think the chef only wanted to increase the value of the car by running it in the event. I only saw the film but that's the impression I got.

The event is currently open to a list of eligible models as detailed on here before but the threat is to close it down so that only cars that actually competed in the 27-57 era would be allowed. I believe that this change was forestalled when the previous organiser sold out a few years ago. The new owners obviously did not want to wield the new broom/stick too soon. Even as a spectator, it is a fabulous event. I went a few years ago and even staying in Brescia the whole time found lots of things to do- the Mille Miglia Museum is a sociological time capsule; not just about the cars.
