Stalk switch

Anybody out there had a go at repairing the indicator mechanism. Mine had ceased to self cancel after a left turn , considered this potentially dangerous as anyone waiting to turn right at a junction would assume I was intending to turn left . I replaced it with one from Eurospares which works fine ,but lacks the cruise control of the original stalk .
I fished out the old one with a view to effecting a repair .
Came apart easy enough , and as far as I can see the only influence on the spring loaded release assembly, comes from the white plastic collar which pushes the catch back with a sloped cam .
Plenty on Ebay from alfa 166 , trouble is they may well be older and covered more miles .
So I thought I would get the collar 3D printed and make the cams taller . I can then remove any excess to achieve optimum action .
I shall seek out a printer tomorrow.

I know people have made a good one out two bad ones, as you say it’s the collar that wears. If it’s a printable shape then that would be a great fix.

It’s the white nylon ring that fails, the ears wear off it. Could be a simple 3D print job and get a box to sell to others….off you go

Hmmm, seems 3D printing has more than one meaning . Went to the nearest shop a Google search threw up only to find their version involved printing a 3D image on a flat 2D surface . Not what I had in mind at all . Shall have to widen and modify search to 3D printing services .

Following with interest... @Zep would be able to confirm but I believe mine is an Alfa retrofit cruise control with a self-cancel that has also got lazy with time.

Is there a guide somewhere to removal? Is it a steering wheel off job?

Yes, it was an Alfa part, sorry it’s got a bit hit and miss. I used Matt’s guide at the time, the steering wheel was a bit tricky to remove as it was well stuck on the splines.
