I'm totally serious. My 4200 looked as though someone had thrown handfuls of gravel at it. Dented the doors (which the PDR man magicked away) but the glass was also chipped. Can't recall which other car had similar (but far less extensive) issues.

C

exactly why i said we're going to be on crow watch now since this thread started, i think i have a woodpecker in my garden as i sometimes here that distinctive noise, hope the fecker doesn't get any other ideas otherwise it will be introduced to my 12 bore

That is very bad luck, and has others have said I would avoid insurance, I would think your excess would half cover the cost of a Detailer. Bad news is you are not allowed to shoot crows anymore or magpies and a whole load of others.
Get a similar thing with crows here, first thing in the morning they are smashing against our conservatory windows make a very load noise.
I used 'Cambridgeshire Concours once who seemed OK but that was for a soft top clean and re-proof.
Of course if you now want to get rid of it for a ridiculous low price I will help you out
Seriously though I feel for you, enjoy your few days away.

You can still shoot crows, magpies, pigeons etc, but only to protect crops and livestock.

@Trev Latter is that a rhea ? We always seem to have one or two escaped ones around here.

Crows and rooks are very smart (clearly only up to a point), fascinating to watch and hard as h3ll to deter. We have way too many around here. They've not attacked my car yet but they do enjoy crarping on it (and other things). I've read that, aside from shooting them, the best deterrent is to hang a dead one in a tree. They don't like that. Some of the local farmers do it. Whilst effective, it does look a bit sinister.

I think it would warn off more than just birds :mock8:and my daughter would have nightmares lol!

Na, woodpeckers are fine. We have a few. A green, which just feeds on the lawn mainly and a couple of greater spotted which rattle the trees regularly and feed on our nuts. Never anywhere they shouldn't be.

Cheers Geoff, I'll look them up. Might be a good excuse for a pro- detail and maybe a coating. It's just not something I'd planned on.

Good luck with your crows, hopefully it doesn't get to the stage of them picking up stones and dropping them on your glass!

That’s correct, where do you source a dead one?

  • You can only shoot pigeons while crops are actually growing, not before you sow.
  • You have to scare crows off birds’ nests in a manner that doesn’t scare nesting birds.
  • You have to prove crop damage – if necessary, in front of a judge.
  • You have to move scarecrows every day – and prove you have done that.
  • You can’t shoot within 300 metres of ‘European protected sites’ (including SSSIs, SPAs and Ramsar sites) – that’s a ban on around 15% of England’s land mass, turning most nature reserves into a songbird snackbar for crows and magpies.
  • You can shoot a pigeon, but you can’t shoot it to eat it
  • You are no longer allowed to decide for yourself whether there are too many birds on your ground, not enough birds, or about the right amount – and what to do about it. That’s up to judges in a court of law, advised by the RSPB.

Interesting. We've got quite a few rooks, crows and seagulls where we are, but the main issue from them is cr@ping all over the cars.

I was intending on my next car being black.....

Bloomin'ell

A good detailer or bodyshop will get that out.

I was having a go a my GranSport bumper on Sunday. it had deep scratches in it so knowing I probably had to get it repainted I went at it with 800 wet n dry and a mop and I was stunned...all totally gone.

It would have been much deeper than what those pair of reprobates did so confident you don't need paint.

Thanks matt, good to hear that even the worst of it should be fine then. Not sure I fancy getting the 800 grit on it. Might leave that for the pros.

We are surrounded by equestrian and crop fields, and these last couple of weeks the bird scarers (very large bangs) and shot guns have been very promenant, there are scarecrows in most of the neighboring fields too.
I'm guessing this is the problem, as we are probably the only queit bit of land in the area atm, so their safe haven.

Well I've had a black car for about 3 years now, this is the first time we've had an issue. Other than keeping it clean that is! :frusty5:
