Strengthening a 3200

Its unlikely that the "spongy" cornering will be affected by these metal bars. that is a product of the springs and damper rates, mostly which are set up for long distance cruising, since this is a GT not a race car. I think you will find there is another thread some where where various opinions of these straps were expressed, i dont think anyone had tried them and that should tell you something.. I would say they are just non sense my self as they are not really doing anything? They apepar to be trying to stiffen the subframe which is already quite robust and i don't think flexes much anyway. It would make more sense if you were stiffening the anti-roll bars or using harder springs and new shocks to suit, assuming you have no back problems and don't mind ruining your car, i am sure you could make the suspension harder. I am clearly not the one to ask as I like the car the way it is, I tend not to think about whether its rolling, i look at the speedo and work out if its fast enough. For me its quite good!

I think yoj can get the Asseta Corsa springs and Anti Roll bars which sharpen up the handling...but at a cost!

I was looking at after market springs, loads available, 10 yeasr innovation since the AC sure to be something better available now. Likewise for anti roll bars, I'll keep searching.

The suspension set-up on the AC is nowhere near spongy, so you would definitely benefit from such as that. I take it you have skyhook on your car Nick, does it not firm up when you switch on sport..?? If you do not have skyhook then anti-roll bars, shocks maybe, would help. Springs depends on how you find the car over the road and if it's good enough..??

Nick,
OK so you have a PWR button, understood..!! As I said earlier, you would benefit from skyhook, or even a version of it, but that would mean shocks with electronic control. If you are after a more controlled drive, I would suggest going for larger anti-roll bars first, front and back. You should not need bracing unless maybe in a spyder. Shocks could be next if you actually need them and the ride should tell you that, you can get good shocks, maybe gas assisted, that you might benefit from and that depends on how you enjoy the ride now. If it's just cornering that is spongy, the ARB's should maybe do the trick, if the whole drive is spongy then maybe your shocks are duff..!!

No idea. As has been pointed out these are GTs and perhaps what I really want is a sports car.... Just need to convince the Mrs that 2 seats is all I need.

Nick,
"Sports" cars, is just a name and some classed as that are nowhere near as good as a 3200. If you kit your 3200 out like an AC, or similar, you would have a superb road car that is good enough to use on the track. Have you had a run in an AC on such as a twisty fast road, they are terrific. If you want one, Dem has one for sale in really good condition..??

I wouldn't buy an AC, I was looking for a cheap upgrade to make it more sporty but I think its time to move on next year, had the car for 7 years!
