Supersprint vs Larini - any experience?

I want to get rid of the secondary cats on my GS. There appear to be 2 suppliers who have a ready-made solution - Larini and Supersprint. Looking at both designs there appears to be very little difference - each have 2 smaller diameter pipes in place of the squashed pipe Maseari thought adequate to fit. I have valved Larini rear boxes which produce a fantastic sound but an awful drone, so I don't place great faith in their alleged R&D to eliminate this sort of thing. They are also eye-wateringly expensive for what the are IMO.
So, I can buy the Supersprint pipes all in for £650 or the Larinis for c.50% more. Does anyone on here have any prior experience of Supersprint? Would I regret buying them?

Used supersprint many times before on fiats , they were always seen as the 'best'

I don't see why you would pay extra for Larini they just look the same!

Bloody **** MAF, you will be giving Benny a run for his money next year at LM.

I had the Larini secondary bypass and took it back and had them fit free flow silencers to each pipe, much better.......and I like a silly exhaust too.

If I had to sum it up "Spitfire" would have been the word.

I don't want anything unbearable, the car still needs to be civilised to drive. Do you reckon these will be a step too far? I know that Larini do a version of the pipes with silencers built in, but as usual they are criminally expensive. My main objective is to de-restrict the stifled exhaust which has 4 cats. My other route is to fit the Maserati manifolds which don't have the cats built in and then some sports cats where the secondaries are currently. I will still need to get rid of the squashed pipe though. I'd be happy to have a bit of a play with some trial and error but it could get very costly very quickly!

Yup. I had a BMW z4m coupe previously with full Supersprint system which was great. Lovely, BMW CSL like exhaust note which deepened the typical M note but not too much. I have a GS with full Larinis now and love every minute of it. Stuff the neighbours!

Basically, if you want loud and fantastic go Larini, if you would like to be a little less obvious, go Supersprint. Both will be dramatic though.

And that's before you consider the cost element.

MAF, I've said it before but I found the Larinis on Marks 4200 just too much..The drone was not good even though they sounded great...Now I can only go on the Supersprint I had on my E39 M5...It sounded great, no drone and didn't annoy in the cabin...Not sure if its the same for the Maserati one though. I would buy Supersprint again.

So you have the US style manifolds with the primary cats built into the manifolds?
Terrible design, the EU manifolds must be better gas flowing.

Another alternative just came on the market

US Fabspeed have redesigned theirs , dyno chart/thread and pics. on ML. Have overcome the low hang clearance issue

Have adopted a similar style to Larini/Supersprint - suitable for the US style manifold ie GS

A question…...

If you have the US spec manifolds with cats (as I do), why not swap out for 4200 non-catted manifolds? More easily available out of a scrapper and then go with sport cat centre section?

Unless I'm missing something I can't think why this shouldn't work?

Good point

Need to consider rest of the exhaust line - up to x pipe at least as joins are a bit different

Also flange connections different

Sadly, yes. Seems most European GranSports have this design, although not all. I can source some non-cat manifolds an then fit sports cats where the secondaries are on my car. Just need to make sure the squashed section of pipe is taken care of as well.

Sorry, should have read this properly before my post above. Yes, I agree Miles - can't see why this wouldn't work. Happy for anyone in the know to tell me otherwise. This will be a project for next year I think. My main concern is to ensure it's not too noisy. A man o my age can't take too much you know!!

I'm considering the Larini Sports De-cat - ie keeping primary cats in situ, no secondary cats and no squashed pipe work !
Given that I'm retaining the OEM BACKBOX I figured that the increase in volume wouldn't be too bad !?

Am I being naive??

I want the performance gains but not drive a "Spitfire"!

A worried SLINC.....
