I've got a Ghibli coming in soon as well as a mint Karif, looking forward to getting them. Becoming a complete Maserati nut these days and loving it!

It's a dark green late 1994 Ghibli 2.8 V6. I'll put more details up this week.

It is Tundra Verde, it will be going on eBay next week, I haven't got the time to sort it out ready for sale. If anyone's interested I am open to offers, needs a few things sorting to make it spot on but nothing major, runs fine, call me if you're after one. 1994 Auto, 2 owners from new 28000 miles only. Beige interior, I'll put full details on here before I put it on eBay.

Just noticed now that some larger pics have been taken, that the red car has the dummy fuel filler on the left which I thought was deleted on the GT model? Having said that it is RHD and has a 6 speed gearbox (a Manuel one nonetheless ) so it must be GT, perhaps they had some old ABS bodyshells to use up when they made this one?

I've seen a number of cars in Europe advertised as a GT which have the dummy filler on the left and assumed it was just the seller being ignorant but perhaps there are a few out there will the dummy filler? (or maybe I'm a complete twit and don't know what I'm talking about?)

The red car has polished up well, looks very smart now, wonder how much the dealer got it for and if he has done any work on it?.

Is your latest acquisition the one that has been advertised the Owner's Club website Dicky? The one that was part of a collection but not used for a long time? I think if its the same guy he also had another Ghibli that he was breaking for spares.

Verde Tundra is a lovely colour for Ghiblis, there is a nice GT for sale here:

Good history, nice lowish miles and lovely colour, pity its auto though :(. It seems to be described as a 2 litre car but I'm pretty sure that very few, possibly only 1 or 2 RHD non-Cup 2 litre cars were made and as far as I know the 2 litre was never available with an autobox. Power is quoted at 330bhp so perhaps they've confused it with the Cup engine?

I never saw it on the club website, it was a club member though, so possibly. Feel free to give me a bell if you wish to know more, or tell me more! Whether you are or aren't interested it would be good to learn more about Ghiblis from you as my knowledge is nothing like yours.

That sounds like it could be the guy. Tried looking for the ad but can't see it now, I think he had a number of cars he was looking to shift. Was he in the Midlands somewhere?

Well I thought I knew a bit about Ghiblis until I noticed the fuel filler on the left side of a car that is a GT, which I thought shouldn't be there! Seriously though, I don't regard myself as a Ghibli Guru but feel free to ask if there is anything specific you would like to know and I'm sure between us we can come up with the answers. I don't think I know anything specific about the car you have just collected, it sounds nice though. You may find some info on http://www.maserati-alfieri.co.uk/alfieri241.htm, select Ghibli II register and scroll down to RHD cars which are listed numerically by chassis number, yours may or may not be there, I don't recall seeing it though.

Thanks Dicky. That'll be the one, I only check the club website periodically so must've missed it.

hey Dicky-

you're right; if it's got a dummy LHS filler- it's NOT a GT.

There was an Italian market 2 litre (306 bhp) version. This car could be a conglomeration of bits...?

Its an interesting one, a 2.8 with a 6 speed gearbox that seems to have an early type bodyshell. As you will know, the 6 speed on the 2.8 was introduced with the GT model but the Italian market 2 litre 306bhp cars all had 6 speed gearboxes in both early type and GT. It is possible that this particular car is GT spec but there could have been some earlier type bodyshells that needed using up. The other possibility is that it may have been repaired at some point using an earlier type rear wing? I suppose the only way to really tell would be to look at the differential.

Right, this dummy filler cap has been bugging me as I keep seeing cars advertised as GTs that have the dummy filler cap. What really threw me was the red car we have been discussing and another one I have seen in Belgium which is another 2.8 litre car with a 6 speed gearbox and described as a GT. I therefore decided to contact the Ghibli Oracle, Enrico Pederzoli who informed me that only the very last GTs had the dummy filler deleted and that the early cars still had them. He said that a 2.8 litre car with a 6 speed gearbox was very likely to be a GT even if it had the dummy filler on the left. The definitive way to tell if a car is a GT or not (apart from looking at the differential) is to look at the braided fuel pipe at the rear of the engine bay. If it enters from the right of the car (on your left as you look under the bonnet) it is a GT, if it enters from the left of the car (on your right as you look under the bonnet), it is an ABS. There, that's solved that little mystery:)
