I've taken this off maseratilife..........

"Clutch & flywheel replacement With me 3.5k I offer great service and fraction of the cost : )"

Does it just confirm the difference between the UK and USA or shall we see similar posts over here as time goes by.....

Thoughts?

No wasn't winding you up P?

So about £2.2K in real money. Assuming this includes all the bearings and labour then that's about right for an indi, assuming that is he has a good rep and knows what he's doing.

Cheers, Miles.

I have a quote Miles from **** Lovets , £1400 all in for full clutch replacement including spiggot bearing and post customer test adjust included
another from Marranello price matching or £600 labour parts supplied by me and post test and reset if necessary

Well under the US prices

At Marranello's yes but remember i already have the parts , im pretty sure DL would be similar if i pushed them for a labour only price , , there's not a lot of extra time involved fitting the flywheel release bearing and spiggot bearing and clucth , maybe half to an hour max , still comes under there clutch change set time of 10 Hours

Im sure these prices would be available if one was to push hard and for the car to be done when the workshop is maybe at a quiet time , saying that i was promised it would be done soon as i wanted , mind you i like to push hard and sometimes that gets respected ,

Does the offer of "great service" include a "happy ending"?

Neil

Always , but as in all things Neil , im a sneaky bugger , i use a marker pen on all the original parts to be renewed, oil and air fliters, belts etc , i always make a point of talking to the tech who's doing the job , that way i let him know what i expect and that i know my onions so to speak , Problems tend to arise when people just drop off or have there cars collected and delivered for service and pay the bill regardless , thats how things get missed off , wrong i know but it happens reguarly , certain parts are a pain to get at and time consuming , so easily get forgotten about but ticked on the schedule list , be aware is my motto

Why should you have to speak to a tech guys....?..you're paying for a job.....why shouldn't it be done correctly......its just a fraudulent act, not doing what a specific sevice schedule says.

i know p but telling them what you want done and some tech talk will get them thinking

that you know a bit and they will be careful to do ev erything to not get caught out

sad but some dont do everything and they just tick boxes to say its been done....

...just rely on Lozs marker precaution........then point it out to them.....tell them to do it...and then take the price off for not doing it in the first place....then....let your mates know on here!

Thats sadistic Frank but somewhere near the mark , for certain it doesn't happen with the tried and trusted indies that are so reguarly praised ,ie Emblem Grimaldi Shiltech etc but if your taking the economic price matching route first time, then the marker pen is a sure tell tale

Theres nothing worse than being caught out red handed Loz....face to face....man to man........but in order for them to save face, they have to admit it, grovel and promise not to do it again...............otherwise, if theres no pain...no gain.....

Lets keep in mind Loz....you've paid your money......for a service.....theres the contract, they fail to perform......pass me that marker.....;)

the big companies make money from all these arabs and billionaires that when we walk in

they see us as just bonus money....

1 man.......100 men.......still don't like it......you post their poor service all over the net, write their CEO......maybe a nice solicitors letter....maybe a small claims court letter.......all sorts of ways of putting pressure on.......
