Good morning Mark ....morning all.

So yesterday was a suprise as I had a call from the HR manager saying that they had a CV that may be suitable for the position of GM at Aston Martin St Athans but they wanted to to talk to me first as I would be their prefer candidate if I was interested before they went outside. Dream job for me maybe........So wanted to say yes but not for me. Automotive is constant and your work home life balance is a struggle as I know lots of colleague that work in the industry. Three years now with Tradeteam and I have the perfect balance which at my age is more important rather than chasing the dollar as they say. Nice to be wanted though. Perhaps iI should have said I would go and see just to have a factory tour...

Morning all.
Nice to have the offer Andy.
As you say as you get older life balance is far more important.
I look at what I did in 2019 and I can't remember how many flights, trains and hire cars I used at all.
To go from that to nothing in 2020 made me think lots and I know what I prefer.
Stay Safe all.

Morning all, tough thinking to do Andy, would that mean a relocation? I got bogged down with technical challenges yesterday and ran out of time so back to the unit this morning.

Have fun all...

Yesterday I had a call from the IT Director about a forthcoming restructure and he was keen to tell me that he wanted me to be part of his management team, nothing new there its been on the cards for sometime but what was new was that not only did he want me to bring my team with me he wanted me to take over two other teams as well, need to do some thinking.

Other than that wet as normal

Company car, @Andyk..? You'd be spending a lot of time in it. Over 5 hours extra each week sitting on your bum. I'd be inclined to get along and give them a good listening to, decide when you know what's involved. Eyes wide open and all that, though. Maybe less security in that line of work.

Morning, all. xxxday again. Meet the new day, same as the old day. But with more sunshine. I'll take that as a win.

Morning all. Not actually sure what day of the week it is. Feeling frazzled with projects on the go at the moment.
Hopefully we will see some progress on a couple before the weekend.

Conference call with an attractive Argentinian in Indonesia awaits shortly, before calls to less attractive blokes in Spain and Slovenia.
Gotta take the rough with the smooth I guess!

Wow, that’s a pat on the back and recognition- regardless of what you decide.
Good luck with whatever decision you make.

Morning all! Back at my desk, bright and early!
Mark what on earth do you do that you're doing these brutal hours?

I had the result of my appraisal yesterday, 'how to demotivate your staff'. I know exact;y what's happened, they are now allowing me to leave the team (which is what I really wanted) but as i'll (hopefully) be leaving, they've thought, why bother making him happy if he's off to another team. But, i'm still in this team until August, so I don't really understand it...!

Moan over.

Our bins were collected yesterday morning. This was of considerable delight as our main bin (i.e. non-recycling) is only collected every two weeks and it had not been collected the previous time...there was some fermenting 1 month old rubbish in there. Bin juice...yuck.

In other news, our house purchase has had more stumbles than a Geordie at 3am after a big night out. Major stumble to hopefully be overcome today, or not. Let's see. The problems of buying a house from a divorced couple, where the person in the house has no interest moving and also lives like a slob.

And now, back to work...

Absolutely great to be wanted. But also, even though it might be more money, it's important to assess that in terms of "monthly take home (plus other benefits)" vs work/life balance. Quite often the extra cash might not be worth it. I would also be a little concerned as to what Stroll's larger plans are for Aston Martin, yes they've spent a **** of a lot on that site, but who knows what Stroll's grander plans are - I'd understood them not to be based on volume. Though, as Adam says, always worth hearing them out.
