Good morning everyone!
20kg of flour was just delivered so I can have bread for a few more weeks. Need to get cracking with those hot cross buns for the rowing club... 5 more sleeps until we're back on the water (or towpath in my case, as coach).
We're now starting work on our new contract. We have to wait another day or few to get all the info through from the supplier, but it's so nice working with good and efficient people.
HapPea Wednesday!
xXx

Knee pain is a classic sign of inappropriate saddle height. I can't remember how it works but I found the key to it online a few years ago when my new summer bike was incorrectly set up by the dealer (despite me riding on the computer machine thingy) with the saddle too low which revealed itself after a 70 mile ride when I could not walk the next day. Three hours is not long based on what you have said before so has your saddle dropped?

Nope. Checked that.

Are you using cleats and proper cycling shoes? I had almost exactly that problem after buying new shoes a few years back and then cleats with no float. This stopped any lateral movement of my leg during the stroke and completely f#cked me up. New cleats and I was sorted.

Oooh, I've never considered bike shoes because when I've used a cage I get massive pain in my knees due to wierd leg geometry. I cycle with my feet half off the pedal. Can you get pedal spacers for that "wider more agressive stance" :)

Yep, and had a Retul Bike fit and shoe alignment in July. On new cleats.

Think I have narrowed it down to Trochanteric Bursitis. Caused by something else.
Basically I need to do some stretching and take anti inflammatories.

Then some other stretching exercises once the pain has gone to stop it happening again.

Good morning everyone, no work today but start destroying a bit of the kitchen to get the big fridge in. Should be a simple job, few screws here and there then lift into place. The old fridge, which came with the house will become a beer fridge. Although it has a tendency to freeze stuff on its lowest setting so might be useful for the Pfizer vaccine.
Blast in the GT later.

Morning Liz...great to have you back....Morning Phil, morning all.
Isn't Liz your wife, Andy? I'm guessing here, but pretty certain that none of you, Loz or Liz want to be muddling them up. If you do, of course, then you all knock yourselves out. We're all about freedom of expression here. Go, you!

You really do have a hectic few days planned, Andy. Get some ointment, You'll be pretty chafed by Sunday.

Morning, all. Today, umm, Oh I dunno. Andy can be a hard act to follow.

Hope you get it sorted. Time is a great healer but a PIA too. On my bike fit they tried to correct for outbound horizontal knee movement. Sure they fixed it but I had learnt to live with it for years and my knee could not cope with it being fixed. Sometimes technology doesn't work.

I use an intermediate amount of float. Personally always go for Look with 4.5 degrees of movement.

One cause of knee pain is that your legs should never be fully extended on the down stroke - there is a mild kink in the knee. This leads to muscle imbalance within your quads - I can't remember which one it is but I think the 'inner' one is weaker than the outer - so eventually your knee cap starts getting pulled and out of tracking alignment. The solution - some leg strengthening work concentrating on fully extending the leg. But - yes get it checked out sooner rather than later. Pushing big gears rather than spinning can also cause issues - its puts a lot of strain on lower back where sciatic originates.
