Well seven bags of sand later I now own a race car transporter/expedition support trailer! Won’t take an awful lot to make it fit for purpose/needs. As in stowage for multiple kayaks of different sizes and accommodation for three and trip support for 90 days. We intend to use hotels for the most part but having a contingency in place will make a massive difference.

Mrs1963 always supports my hobbie of car related things. Whether it’s buying cars, tools and my garage renovation but I think it would be pushing it a bit too far parking that in the drive :)

It was a bit of a find indeed!

it was built in 2018 (chassis) with an older body grafted on and customised. It looks heavy, we will see how it goes. Good thing is I’m not intending to lug cars around in it. Empty is 1.6 ton, max loaded is 3.5 ton but my van is max 2.5 ton towing. One of the first things to do will be sticking it on a public weighbridge.

Morning all, hardly slept as my mind was racing designing the trailer revisions and the scale of the purchase. Makes the adventure ever more real. Supposed to be working on part of the Olympic Park in Leyton today but as yet cannot get access.

Have fun all...

Morning, all. Stuck in already - getting going early today. More snow overnight. Must be close on 8 inches out there now. I'm very grateful that I don't need to commute.

Have a good week, everyone.

Morning all, trailer looks cool.

VRT day for the first of the classic cars lets see if we have all the paperwork right and can avoid getting shafted by the revenue

Morning all. Needed to be in the office this morning so ventured out.

What I have learned is that a Jag XF-S isn't very good in the snow.
Also as I got to the office car park, I lowered the window to enter my pin to get in, there was a crack and the window dropped completely inside the door!

Fortunately it went up about 3 inches (the window) and I've been able to 'close' it. However, I'm fully expecting to have a car filled with snow when I get back to it.
Broken regulator?

derailed maybe.. had same on a previous car.. glass bonding failed to metal lifting mechanism and was sort of raised at a cheeky angle off the rail..... door trim off and re-bonded in rail..

I hate removing door cards and fixing things inside, more feel than look - why do these jobs always happen in the winter?

Yeah, broken or derailed as said. PITA!

C

After consulting a few forums its probably a snapped cable.

Which means a new regulator. Knowing Jag it will be a 300 quid part an 200 quid in labour (not at Jag, that figure would be 2000!).

Which is a pain as i didn't want to spend anything on the car as it will be going soon (hopefully).
