thanks - I enjoyed reading that.

I’ve got a 1989 Zenith Daytona, and a 197x Day Date, and love them both... I actually wish I had bought two when I bought my Daytona, as they seem to have rocketed in value

The Rolex itch grew on me over a few years. Then I spotted a Sea Dweller in a local Goodsmiths window. I tried this watch on 3 times over about 6 months. Then decided I wanted it.
Went in and it had been sold lol. Expressed my serious interest and they got one in from another branch.
Then at the next Basel world they discontinued it after only 3-4 years I think and released the newer version, I believe it’s actually one of if not the shortest production run of one of their sports watches.

If that is a Sea Dweller 4000 they have rocketed in value because of the short production run and because the new Sea Dweller has the date magnifier which has put a lot of traditionalists off

I thought overwinding was a myth. After all, once the spring is compressed (against itself), there's nowhere else for it to go, but I'm not a horologist!

Very nice though. Takes a licking, keeps on ticking :)

There's a photo of my box somewhere. I may need to take another one.

Thats what Steve said on The Repair Shop , you can't overwind a mechanical movement

It’s the very one. I bought around the sept and then is it March or April they do Basel world and the day after all of my examples were snapped up.
It was a return for the sea dweller after a few years absence and apparently it didn’t sell hugely, until it was discontinued so that also impacted in that it didn’t sell in sub numbers etc.

It’s a keeper for me though will be passed on to my boys along with my speedmaster

I’m not a Rolex fan boy, but I own one and love it and have to admit my all time favourite is the Daytona. I know Rolex splits opinions at times.
Wearing my Daytona this month. I try to rotate all my mechanical watches so they all get used for a month at least each year. Sept will be the Heuer Monaco as it’s Le Mans73987

Why not wear them normally? Isn‘t telling the time a bit tricky when the face is upside down?

Snap, although not sure my daughter will wear the SD or Speedy when I’m gone
