So for Christmas I can drink alcohol at work and shouldn't be sacked, and then I can drive home under the pretext of testing my eyes? Asking for advice.

Several of my companies have had a weekly beer trolley. Several I know have have free bars every week. Certainly I have had many meetings which were accompanied by, or attached later to beer / wine.

You’re in France of course you can. Been to a few staff canteens on the continent where lunch is accompanied by wine and this is heavy industry, not prancers in suits where the worst that can happen is a staple injury.

That was the New Zealand culture and not a good one in my opinion.
Having a few drinks straight after work was the norm there.

There’s more than one to choose from, Swiss factory canteen Ive been to had wine with lunch as well. I’ve heard Glaswegian ones serve beer but I think that’s more of a breakfast thing ;)
Many's the time I've had a light beer over lunch with Swedes in what amounts to a work restaurant.
