I hear you Loz. To be honest i do all the work on my alfas, and have taken on the 75 with out any really issues yet, just like you say a very long list of stuff to work through.

I guess being new to maserati and realising its a big step up in technology etc i maybe being a bit over cautious. :)

You cant be over cautious with these cars Andy , but it needn't be as expensive as people make out , go to Marranello or H R Owen for servicing and you could end up with a huge bill , but even they are getting competitive on service prices now ,

Take the hands on route , and it can be far less expensive ie F1 pump ex dealer £950 same part ex alfa selespeed £284 , we have just confirmed the same with the brake discs ex Ferrari 550 same part half the cost ,Masser wishbones £575 new , can be refurbed by re - bushing at a cost of £175 so plenty of oppurtunity to make savings and as per the tech section some great pictoral how too's

wow thats crazy..so the sillyspeed is the same pump as the f1 used in the maserati..wow. Those prices sound great. i had based all my calculation on dealer servicing and new maserati parts to be fair. my estimates of cost of ownership can come down a bit now aswell.....fantastic!! :)

Lots of parts/relays are ex Alfa window mechanisms etc so all positive, if your hands on and ask on here , most topics are covered now , makes for a rewarding less expensive ownership

It has to be worth a look at that price, if i had sold my 3200 i would get Rob (Grimaldi Eng) to check the car out for me that is if i liked silver cars :)

Cheers

It would be a steal at £16k but that's still £3k off what he's asking for it. I'd say £18k will be as low as he'll go but it's not worth it. Dodgy history can never be sorted out, everything else can.

Yup....plus vouched for alternatives in the tyre department, instead of top of the range Pirellis/Bridgestones....Vredesteins and Falkens have gotten commendations and are 30-50% cheaper.

The forum is currently investigating relining of clutches.....another huge saving. Brake pads in the shape of greengrippers (both front and rear sets for £70 all in!!) from BBrakes, the same guys who do the relining of brake shoes for £35 !!

Also D Lovetts and GP of Nottingham, are price matching for both servicing and parts to keep indies on their toes....:)

The pollen filter is the same as the Alfa 166, and I think an alternative for the air filter is listed too.

All adds up and takes the last "0" off some of the annual running costs!

It took me 2 years of trying and a nice long chat during a quiet period in the main dealer to get a print out of the service history for my car and the warranty work.

All the dealers were happy to tell me over the phone what they had done...but much harder to get it in writing.
