This QP sounds nice in the description

Apparently the dealer thinks the important issues with this car are the power steering and the central locking. And there we were, a bunch of Maser experts, worrying about silly things like clutches, brakes, service history, etc.

I do like to see long ownership of a car when I'm buying

I rang up about a car in Bradford once

My first question is always is it registered in your name

Er no , in his innit voice

Ok you're a trader then, no I'm not a trader I just buy and sell a few cars

Clang as the phone went down , actually I miss that , pressing a button to disconnect somebody isn't anywhere near as good

Thought it was "Asian" from the photos. Buying a car from Bradford like this will only end in tears!

So many references to leather and not a single picture of the interior.
Also agree with Ewan comment. Looks like a clueless trader looking for an equaly clueless buyer

This one isn't in Bradford, this was a few years ago when I was looking for a Volvo estate

It Looks Ok to me, the interior is a bit drab but last owner for 8 years good history, last owner wasn't short of money buying a 2 year old QP so it's probably come from BCA as a trade in the dealer didn't want for another 80k car

Doesn't say whether that plate is included or not but if it is that could be a cheap QP

Plenty of photos on the dealer's own website - as you say, it's a hateful bland, drab interior colour combination, but it looks clean enough and the paint colour is very nice. Has a phone fitted too.

Go drive it... Or better yet, spend £300 getting it inspected.

Interestingly a specialist car dealer had a different view about the number of owners.

He liked to see a car that had changed hands via dealers every 2-3 years as he noted that owners who own a car a long time (say 6-7 years) often overlook or choose to postpone small problems that turn into big problems later on. When a car goes through a resale at a reputable main or specialist dealer and is prepared correctly, these issues are usually addressed which effectively "resets" the condition of the car each time, keeping the car in first class condition throughout it's life. Obviously this is not true for all, and members of forums like sportsmaserati usually means owners care more than the average person about car maintenance, but I think the dealer has a valid point in general.

A car dealer that prefers cars that change hands via a dealer every time?
Im shocked! No conflict of interests at all there.

I guess he would like to buy the 3200 on wheeler dealers (also known as the cheapest 3200 in the country) that had 11 previous owners

The original owner of this car would probably have paid north of 70k for it at 2 years old so I doubt money was an issue especially as it looks like it's got a lot of main dealer receipts with it.

As I said I think it's been PXd for something prestige and found its way into the non franchised trade probably through an underwriter

That's how I bought my WRX , the guy selling it was an underwriter , How it works ( for those that don't know) is when an older car comes into a main dealer they ring an underwriter and describe it to him on the phone, he gives them a price which they then pass on to the customer

If the deal goes through the underwriter disposes of it through non franchised dealers and gets paid a commission from both parties, usually he never sees the car

With my Impreza he'd underwritten it but couldn't find a home for it so had to buy it

I happened to drop lucky and be looking when it appeared on autotrader

4 years old
1 owner from new
Full Subaru history
No mods at all
£400 worth of tax on it

I paid £7200 which was a steal 2 years ago , they were 9k in the dealers with no tax

It's been a great car for me and virtually depreciation proof as they still sell for what I paid today

I'll really miss it when it's gone but if I get a QP I suspect not for long
