Some of you may have watched the documentary on Ant Anstead’s quest to build a Tipo 184 Alfa Romeo homage. This business is now up and running, and you can buy the kit, to which you then need to add the mechanics from an MX-5 to build the car.
Well, a friend of mine bought, and has now finished building, chassis number 1 and today is the big day - its first outing. It’s at a local track as the car is not road legal just yet (though there are plans for it to become so).
As there are some Alfa fans on here, I thought this might be of interest, so here are some pics I took yesterday.

Fantastic, the build was really interesting on the TV show amongst the flannel and nonsense that makes up these shows, but the end result looks great
I hope that it's outing goes well - will your friend be taking it to Brooklands in October for the motorsport festival?

Looks cool although the road components look a bit strange on a race car design but worth it to allow road use, can you imagine seeing this appear in the mirrors on the road

Making it road legal does unfortunately force some compromises. But worth it, as you say.
The white panel on the back un-bolts to reveal the rear number plate, for example.
I'm not sure what his plans are yet, other than to get through today and not bin it on a wet track!!!

Lovely. You wouldn't want to forget and rest your left arm on that exhaust guard though.

He could remove the lights and go for a daytime MOT like I have on the Trofeo, the front would like a whole lot better I think
The daytime MOT is for cars with no lights at all to the point that when I present mine for the MOT, I need to tape over the endurance racing lights that the car has so that there are no lights visible at all

That’s absolutely stunning, would be a proper shock to see one of those coming at you on a narrow country lane!

Watched the build video and it looks to be a well thought out kit and straightforward to assemble.

Hmmmm I have the space and MX5 experts up the road but something would have to go….
