Too much oil!

At the garage today, I was told the car had too much oil. As you can see it is way over the max mark. The car has done about 500m since it was serviced before I bought the car.

Am I fussing over nothing or not? I was thinking of siphoning it out with a pump, but I not sure if they are any good. I tried to siphon some fuel out of another car, and it was hopeless.

If you can get a tube done the dipstick you could suction it out with a suction pump. It won’t syphon, it’s too thick.

This has happened to me on more than one occasion!
I assume garages just put the 'book' amount in, but obviously they're never fully drained.

Engines don't like too much oil.
I just drain a bit out from the sump plug, it's easy to get to.
Think you'll struggle to suck it out through the dipstick tube as its very narrow.

Haven’t been under a car in a while and I don’t fancy it. I doubt my trolley jack would fit under the Maser

See this all the time. I take it you have a vibration at idle?

It needs to come out the sump drain. Do it cold (so you don’t go ouch and drop the sump bung in the bucket). Undo it slowly and turn with you fingers, pressing upwards at all times and let half a litre out. Then top up to 2/3rds up the dipstick for summer running.

You don’t need to do remove any of the under trays or pop into Sportsitalia and I’ll do it FOC for you.
