Touch up paint

I've got a couple of little chips of paint out of my GT on the edge where the door has been opened onto something.
And one of them was made by me! :ohh:

Do I have to go to a main stealer for a touch up stick or pot of paint? or are there cheaper options?

Get the paint mixed at Halfords in one of their touch up pots, they are very good.

Then get some lacquer touch up and mix equal quantities into a small jar/pot with a lid and leave for the air bubbles to disappear overnight.

Apply in several coast to build it proud.

Leave for a further week to harden fully, longer if possible.

Wet sand the area with 3000 grit wet and dry (being bloody careful)

Cutting compound then polish to finish.

What I tend to do is do the above over the course of a month after the usual washing process.

TBH, I never got on well with the chipex.

Another quick tip that I do is use a permanent marker and dot them in, you will be surprised how well this "dealer trick" works, especially on darker cars.

Yep, one of the reasons I like a black car - Sharpies are my friend!

there are some great tutorials on Youtube. I have bought paint and applicators here: http://stores.ebay.com/paints4ucom/ - you really don't use a brush, more of a toothpick type thing to dot the paint on.

The paint I bought there for the stradale was a touch too light, I bought again for the X3 and was perfect...

BTW: this is great for polishing after the 3000 wet and dry: Menzerna One-Step Polish 3-in-1 very quick and amazing shine. I use little foam pads on a cordless drill, but elbow grease and a cloth would work too.
