Trickle charger without a Mains supply

Hi folks - unfortunately I don’t have the luxury of a garage with a mains supply to trickle charge the battery on my GT Sport 4.7 auto. Any recommendations on portable/solar powered trickle chargers that you’ve used? Thanks in advance!

Does the GT have a battery isolator?
Best just to disconnect the battery when parked in the garage.
Unless things have moved on, a plug in solar won't keep up, unless a proper expensive solar panel on the roof of the garage.

if you have a garage but no power get a couple of 200W solar panels on the roof and use a battery regulator, it will work fine.
If your own garage, worth doing just for some 12v lights off say a leasure battery, so you can see!
Could add an alarm to the garage too then.

Its not that expensive to get an outdoor socket and if needed, a weatherproof electric box.

I also lack a garage, and was considering the outdoor socket route… crudely I managed to get my CTEK cable to run outside through our ground floor bay window, and into the boot of my QP (with the charger itself snug and dry inside my house). I had to purchase a CTEK extension cable, but all is working fine whilst being able to close my window without incident.

Ideally I’d like to avoid getting an electrician in to install an outdoor socket or running cables from windows (as my drive way is a bit of a distance from the house)... Has anyone ever used the CTEK CS Free as a trickle charger before: https://www.ctek.com/uk/battery-chargers-12v-24v/cs-free
In theory, this would be perfect as it doesn’t need to be plugged into the mains (until it needs recharging for an hour once a week), but would appreciate feedback from anyone who has actually used it, or anything similar, before I commit to the purchase. Thanks!

That's a get you going once flat/nearly flat, not a maintenance charger unless connected to mains/solar ect, so back to square one.

There is a CTEK charger that does this

Not so sure if I'm reading it correctly.

You can charge and maintain any 12V lead acid or lithium battery anywhere using mains, solar or leisure battery power. And if your battery’s flat, CS FREE’s revolutionary Adaptive Boost technology will work out the safest and quickest way to power up your battery to get you going within 15 minutes.

It's a normal charge maintainance but only with electrical lookup, either mains, solar or a leisure battery. So okay if you want to cart the leisure battery back to your house to charge up when that gets flat!
Also has a built in small battery like many booster packs, just to get you started from a flat battery.

Oh, I just read this bit...

"CS FREE gives you the freedom to charge and maintain any 12V lead acid or lithium battery wherever you are – even if you’re nowhere near a power outlet. "

Never used a leisure battery before... any recommendations on one that would be suitable for this setup? I.e. locked away in the boot with the CTEK....

Get a deep cycle leisure battery with a high capacity, choose a mainstream manufacturer with a decent warranty. Bosch, exide, etc. Tanya batteries or your local automotive factors or tyre place
