So who's fault was that then? The ferrari, the lambo for not using mirrors, 50/50 or the bloody charabang for being in the way?

Saw this yesterday. Like you say, what on earth possessed them to do that overtake? Some of the manoeuvres leading up to the crash looked a little tight as well, I’ll bet the motorcyclist is thanking his lucky stars.

To me, it looks like the Lambo is at fault. The Cali had a good view to continue the overtake and did so. The Lambo was too busy squeezing a view forward, didn’t check his near side blind spot, side swiped the Cali, and upended the rolling road block. I’ve driven in enough of these convoys to know, even with guys you know and trust, you should ALWAYS check your safety bubble before proceeding or bad things will happen.

Shocking driving indeed and as much as Camping Vans are a pain they did nothing wrong at all.
Total waste of life there.

The Lambo did a risky overtake before with a motorbike coming in the opposite direction. He was also far too close behind the camper to initiate an overtake, and being in front of the pack, probably didn't look behind before pulling out.
So although the Lambos fault, the Fezza should have probably held back if a good clear road and get the Lambo get past the camper.
Whatever, RIP.

The Ferrari driver put them at risk here. In a convoy of fast cars that are all overtaking and trying to find clear roads, why would you go and overtake each other. Just move with the group and all will be good. By the rule book the lambo is at fault, but then again, the ferrari shouldnt have been where it was (not allowed to overtake on this road). I guess the insurance is going to have fun with this. And the family of the ferrari couple as well.

I’m not a fan of such new supercar tours. I did one earlier this year and the behaviour was awful. Subscribed to all the negative associations non car people have of car people, particularly supercar owners.
The tour was a gentle drive around the local countryside, a mixture of car ages including pre-war stuff. Not enough for one 812 owner who proceeded to blast by on tiny roads with no real planning for the next apex, corner, or indeed one-off pre-war Bentleys that don’t do 0-60 in three seconds, which he nearly buried his Ferrari into.

Saw the owner and, guess what, he subscribed to the stereotype. Short, balding, podgy and, judging by how close he needed to stand near the urinal, the owner of such a pathetic nano dick that I’m surprised he didn’t need a winch and harness to reach the bottom of the urinal.

We have a Gumball rally style thing over here most years and although some of the drivers are considerate of other road users some, normally in the biggest loudest cars, are dickless wonders

I would put the blame 70% on the Ferrari. person behind is more or less always to blame, the Lambo pulling out was not really a surprise just arrogance to think they would sit and wait for him to pass, the whole thing looked like an accident waiting to happen TBH. Lambo should have seen him in the mirror and not pulled out, sure. As has been said its a tragic waste of life, although I am certain none of them thought they would die that day, it only takes one moment, it's a sobering thought. I prefer if I have the urge to drive quickly to be on my own and also not in a convoy.

Given the circumstances of all the cars traveling together as a group, IMO the Ferrari was to blame, yes the Lambo should have looked, but the Ferrari knew the Lambo also wanted to overtake road should have anticipated they would make a move.

As someone said earlier - very sad waste of two lives.

Yes, I agree Zag. The first video shows the crash and initial impact, there is another video of the Cali burning down an embankment which we don't want on here so I feel its time to close this thread.

I will give my thoughts on the accident before I go. The Lambo tailing the camper was stupid not to check his mirror but the I find the Cali, overtaking (I assume) his 'mates' in a convoy was culpable for the death of himself and alas his innocent passenger and ultimately paid the price. I have been in this situation many a time and you don't pressure the overtaking car, its tricky enough looking forward, not back.

I am just glad the innocent camper van occupants did not loose their lives. Small justice.
