Hi guys,
Done a quick search but haven't found much info. I like having the tyre walls shiny and black. What have you found to be the best out there? I normally get a £5 thing from Halfords and spray it on (and then wipe off the alloys!)
Any preference? I think it really makes a car look great when the tyres are shiny.
Thanks,
Laurence

And if you drive in a spirited fashion with it on it makes a real mess around the sills and arches as it sprays off and sticks to the paintwork.

If I've been to a large car meet and the car was on show then yes, I'd put something on to black the tyres but then that would be wiped off to remove any shiny finish, which I think looks too false. This would leave the tyre face clean, black and natural looking.
By 'natural' I mean for a car that's not been or being driven.

I still use some sort of bumper, tyre gel I had from my valeting days over 20 odd years ago. It's so old all the branding has worn off the tub. Maybe Autosmart?

Hate shiny dressed tyres but do give them a wipe over at car meets but only to get them clean not shiny

Hi guys,
thanks for the replies - sorry I was out - well driving in fact all day with my new exhaust!
Thanks for the input - I do partially agree that perfectly shiny overly black can almost look fake, but the dry look just doesn't finish the car off very well. Even on my Vauxhall Astra in the past I've sprayed stuff on it - but never noticed it not drying/flicking off when driving, is something I will consider though.
I'll order some of that Amazon stuff and report back in a week or so. Now just need to get my wife the correct application kit to get to to help out :) She's trained in alloy wheel cleaning (thanks Father Christmas!!) as long as it's A) Sunny, B) Over 15 degrees, C) not before 10am, and D) I've got to clean her whole car inside and out!!

Autoglym tyre treatment. Leaves them black but not shiney, goes on without a mess using a sponge, dries quickly so no splashing residue.......in fact jolly good stuff.

+1 with you guys, half bottle left and had for 4 months

wow, are you apply this daily.. ?

Meguiars endurance tyre gel...Its bloody marvelous...

yep for satin to shine tyres I use this, very good and lasting, for matt to satin...swissvax.

tip. clean the tyres with degreaser and make sure the tyres are dry before apply the dressing using a foam pad.
