Yep a late 4200, or maybe an early (aka: cheaper) gransport

... Hi Tess, not yet, but seems imminent. Had toyed with waiting til spring, but, you know, have to scratch it now :D

Thanks Andy, don't think I'd spotted that one. Looks nice.

That "vintage" I looked at yesterday looked good, but didn't drive as I'd hoped, the '02 on Saturday drove better, much stiffer. Needed a service too, and a clutch soon, rear tyres too. The sales men couldn't be more nebulous, and they've been more than a bit useless at getting back to me. The guy that I needed to talk figures to buggered off as I came back from a test drive, and they knew I'd driven 2 1/2 hours. Also, the sales guy I spoke to gave me a story as to why it had come back to them after 3 months that didn't correlate at all with the other salesman's story on the phone. So, not feeling good about it! Not ruling it out yet though.
Had too much give on turn in. Didn't like it, but an inspection may show play somewhere. Haven't rung Emblem up yet to inspect as I'm waiting for the sales guy to get back.

Going to look at a much lower milage gransport in a minute in Bristol. (Silver one at Hamilton's) I'd dismissed it as I didn't like the interior, but am hoping it may drive as I'd expect one to. Will let you know how it goes.

When I finally get something shall swing by with it. (Will bring a 1 18th 288 GTO for your Son I dug out. Saw your post re Die-cast Maserati you found. I got for my Son (bit big for it now at 6' 4"!) i when I went to Marenello. Got it in the Ferrari shop. Felt like a kid buying it, especially as I had to go back in and out of the entrance door again one more time, it makes the sound of a high speed F1 passing as it opens and shuts! So cool! What a kid!)

Good luck with your search NotEnoughHorses. I am sure you will eventually get the right one. It sounds a bit strange that these guys can't be bothered to chase a sale, especially fuel hungry supercars in this financial climate. Perhaps they have something to hide and you were asking the wrong questions.

Sadly, I think you're right, KennyG. They've still not got back, either.

The gransport I just looked at was spot on, though, and the guy at Hamilton's was too. Hoping he's going to get back with a respectable px price. (hate selling privately)

Cheers for your well wishes AliG ;)

Mark, I would be tempted with the one at Hamiltons........Looks at the advert many times and it is a low mile car......I like silver with dark wheels and the interior...Well I like it but as you say not all will......The first GS I ever say was that combo....I think its a good price and they have had it for a while so I think there is a deal to be had...........Sounds like a better car than the Vintage...There is a good reason why it sold and then they had it back almost straight away.......

Mark, thats very kind of you on the model...You are a gent....

Pleasure Andy.

The GS was a beauty, Andy. Externally.

Not convinced that the pale blue 'trainer' interior styling is as classy a place to be! Though the drive was all that I'd hoped, and you simply don't see the interior whilst engaged in the drive.

Am seriously considering that one

It is an acquired taste Mark......Think thats why it hasn't sold.....Its the colour that was in the original press photo car........But yes very 1980's primark trainers.............But I still like it and at that price for those miles plus sure you could get a few more £'s off it could be worth a punt.....

When I showed the wife this:

...I'm not going to tell you what she said for fear of offending someone!
I could live with it, but I have to live with her!

Mark I'll whisper this...but it has a starange appeal to me...

In July I spent 20 grand on a Lexus 400h for her, without her looking at it. What a mistake. All I get when we go out is, "God, it's ugly... GOD, it's ugly...!" I'm taking a 6k hit on that by chopping it in, all because she doesn't want to look at it!

So, if I get the pale blue trainer interior, I think I'd have to travel without her, 'cause I know she'd go on about it... incessantly!

You see, that pic does work for me. Italian cars are flamboyant, and an interior like this shouts that.

The new crop of Maseratis are more Germanic to me, at they not finished off in mad colours.

It shows who are buying these cars now....too worried about resale values and not enjoying them for what they are.

I see what you're saying, Conaero, but you haven't met my wife, have you!?! Mind you, in fairness, if it doesn't neigh and poo on the road, she's not too interested

No need to concern myself with any of those worries now, as I've just spoken to Hill's and sorted a deal with them on their 4200 "Vintage", which was my first choice.

So, looks like I'm going to a proud Maserati owner very soon!

Good times :D
