So I put the hammer down on a motorway today, and with the rock back, my left foot got wet :-(
Very wet. Like full cup of water poured on it...

And, found wet in passenger footwell too.

The dreaded heater matrix?

What car do you have ? Drain pipe behind the radio on the bulk head could be blocked as it has a kink in it due to a design flaw. This makes the aircon overflow in to the cabin if it becomes blocked. I hope you like being upside down in the footwell ;P

You need to order a new rubber pipe.
Remove the securing clips from the rubber drain pipe.
Cut about 5mm off of the plastic tube from the bulk head with a hack saw blade.
Then also cut a few mm from one end of the rubber pipe which relieves the kink in the pipe.
Then re fit it and secure with a cable tie or jubilee clip ( I cant remember which ) . It is a sod of a job. But cheap.

Check with my brother (conaero) He will tell you how to check if it is that . I think the cabin filter will be wet through .

I’d check for a blocked drain and leaves in the scuttle first. I’d think the heater matrix would be a continual drip.
Does the drain pipe run behind the pedals / centre console though? It was coming from above my left leg, while on the footrest all the way to the left?
I'll have a look when I get chance anyway, see what I can find there

The drain runs down that side yes. But if that’s blocked and the heater fills with water it’ll slosh out of the heater which is over there too. Same for water getting in from the scuttle it’ll slosh into the heater box then out of that. The drain drains outside the car.

If it was the heater matrix it would stink of coolant. I would take the scuttle panel off and check the cabin filter and ac motor area to see if there is any water settled at the bottom.

Thx guys. Haven't had chance to get on this yet as constant torrential rain outside and garage not big enough.
Sorry for ignorance, But what do you mean by scuttle panel and cabin filter? Is cabin filter pollen filter? And where are these, how to get to them?

Scuttle panel is the panel at the bottom of the windscreen . Cabin filter is drivers side.... I think .
