Owning a Maserati is a full time job. Since picking this up it's been back to the garage twice and still has a couple of issues that need sorting. But all that aside - what a car.

TPMS: old units replaced - now working ok
N/S drop link failed - replaced. Now O/S has failed (false economy eh?)
Engine Management System Failure:dirty lambda sensors
Handbrake: fully on it would roll away if the wind blew - now fixed
N/S dipped beam lamp out. Not checked yet but will report on this.

Random error codes: alarm malfunction, airbag etc

Going forward...

Boot struts need replacing.

Wheels need refinishing.

I fancy converting to Evans Waterless Coolant.

Bit of re-trimming may change to Al Pacino for headlining/A posts etc.

I used Evans Coolant in my Hawk Stratos replica. And a jolly good job it did too. It really gave me peace of mind as the Hawk struggled not to overheat in traffic with normal coolant.

I'm interested in why you feel that your QP would benefit? Is it the protection against corrosion that concerns you? Concerns over overheating? Or something else?

TBH I like the idea of a low pressure cooling system. Nothing has gone wrong, and nothing indicates anything will go wrong. I don't often sit in traffic, and the temp gauge never goes over mid point But it's the 21st Century water really can't be the best solution can it?

I am seriously looking to swap to the Evans waterless once we have the complete set of silicone pipes in place on the 4200; as you say just such a superior system to water, a no brainer albeit a relatively expensive one...

And yet, regarded as un-necessary for any production road car? That's a bit of a guess, I'll grant, so I'll happily learn of any current production road car that was designed to not use water (or air) based cooling.

Not arguing that it's not better, just that I'd rather spend the money on petrol. Or scotch. Or wine ;)

It is roughly a tank full of gas to do but I'm willing to give it a go. If it is one more thing less to worry about when hooning it on a track or stuck in a summer traffic jam I'm ok with that.

If I worried about overheating, I'd agree :)

Edit: Actually, I probably wouldn't. I'd want to find out what was wrong to make it overheat. I've never had a fully functioning car overheat.

A nice balance of comments here.

I too calculate costs in terms of tanks of fuel. So much easier to justify spending some cash when it takes around £0.1k to fill it up!

15 litres of Evans coolant costs £180 at retail. The prep fluid (which can be re-used a number times) costs £80 (10 litres).

Al Pacino headlining - You looking at me? I gave into the spellcheck - it made me laugh.

And according to the wife the Engine Management System Error is back. Need to find me a proper mechanic soon!

Thanks - the drop link is being changed on Monday (by a local mechanic) and while the wheels are off we'll check the N/S dipped headlight. He'll have a generic reader if the fault is displaying we should get a code.

I'm not phased - it'll be something or nothing.
