What is Cambriocorsa Flappy Paddle Gearbox?

I just found this video which illustrates the F1 flappy paddle change. Whilst this is relating to the Ferrari 355 the principle is exactly the same for Maserati.

I just thought this might be of interest and was a good illustration to anyone thinking of buying a Ferrari or Maserati and without the knowledge of how this system works. The illustration video below is a Ferrari 355 but the same would apply to Maserati.

I must say when I first bought my Maserati I found it took a few weeks to become fully conversant with the system and I missed the normal stick change. Now though given the choice, the F1 change would win hands down every time. Don't listen to all that nonesense from Jerremy Clarkson about stupid flappy paddle gearboxes.......he is talking total and utter nonsense although it has to be said that early versions of this technology were considerably more jerky than the slick fast changes available today but even they could be tamed by using the right technique of lifting off the gas a little when changing.

I am posting this same thread under Ferrari also for future reference

Hope this proves useful

When you see the guy changing with the gear stick against a paddle you realise why the system is so right for track work.
