Leaving work last night at around 8:30pm and Gatwick's roads are still relatively quiet so the roundabouts effectively become chicanes. I driven round them so many times, I know where to look and when to stop or slow if there's traffic on the right. I get to the roundabout before the Shell station and simply flick round it to go past the petrol station, I noticed an oncoming Surrey/Sussex police SUV and he probably heard me giving it a bootful so swings round. No blues and twos, but thinks he's I've not clocked him. I simply flick through the next roundabout outside the North Terminal, and he's a good 300 yards behind. South Terminal roundabout is quickly dispatched, I probably should have waited for the traffic but I had the speed and acceleration to safely join it. I made sure that I follow the lanes round this one as plod has gained on me. (I stuck to the 50 limit!). It's 60mph on the M23 spur and rozzer it now on my tail. Clearly waiting for me do something so he's got it on camera or ANPR to check for any discrepancies. Sport off, cruise on 60mph, left hand lane...get to the M23 roundabout and I'm now in full IAM mode, clearly p!ssed off, he swings round the roundabout to go back to eat his doughnuts and coffee, ironically outside where I work, where no one can see them skive.
Moral of the story, if you're driving exuberantly, be observant.
