What to look for with pre-facelift 4200 Spyder?

I'm looking for a 4200 Spyder and was always looking for a facelift model.
Now a pre-facelift model has surfaced that might be interesting.

Are there any extra things to look for when considering these?
Or should I just not get a pre-facelift car?

Thanks!

I've had a 2002 Spyder for 7 years and have driven 20k miles. Buy of a lifetime. There were complaints of cowl shake but I've never seen any problem. It also has the plastic rear window and mine has some scratches and no heater of course. Mine is a 6MT so no CC issues.

The only difference between an original and a facelift is the styling and, I think, a bit of extra bracing on the Spyder. Unless you really don’t want a pre-facelift it is probably worth considering it, as you might wait a while for a facelift.

Some of us prefer the classico Spyder vs. facelift. 2002 as noted, had plastic rear window, ASP vs MSP, antenna on rear wing, and no bracing.
For 2003 (a short prod. year) the cars got a glass rear window w/heater, MSP, bracing around the cowl and an X brace under the torque tube, the antenna moved to the windscreen. 2004 until about Sept. was the same as 2003. CC cars got a software update, as my car is 6mt, I can't comment, but some people didn't like the update. Good luck.
