Evening all, hope everyone's having a good weekend so far.

Hoping to draw on the forums know how and expertise if possible.

So, since my last few posts I'm still GT hunting and I'm getting myself tied up in a ton of knots not wanting to make the wrong decision as I'm wanting to get something bought in the next week.

there are a few in this range but unsure of some of the dealers in that they're not specialists like the Nuvolas and Richard Graces of the world. Is it advisable to buy one from a non maserati/performance car specialist or even private given my knowledge is the wrong side of zero in terms of what to look out for!

Would be good to hear what everyone would go for out of the ones that are out there in that price range.

As ever, appreciate your help.

All the best

If I had know about the forum before buying my car I would have only purchased from those two or ADG. Obviously you can get an inspection from one of the indies which is a must if buying elsewhere.

Buy the best one you can find and get a full inspection prior to handing over your hard earned £££s.

Or as above buy one from the ones mentioned above and save some hassle.

Thanks Tony, you're right and I'm glad I signed up to this forum, it's been a massive help. To be honest I think the only option is a specialist.

You're on the money there Peter, it has to be a specialist really. Problem is there are so few and therefore so few in price range so its a waiting game.

You can buy anywhere. Get a warranty and be prepared (if you're going to force the decision on time) to have it spend some time getting stuff sorted to your standards. Otherwise wait for the right car

(I fall very much into the the by now and sort camp)

I bought from Nuvola and would definitely recommend buying from one the 3 mentioned without a doubt - your patience I'm sure will pay off and you'll have total peace of mind, it WILL be worth the wait

All of the above give sound advice, the 3 you mention have good reputations for a reason and the SM forum collective as a whole will not give there support lightly. It's earned, that said, if "you" do your homework, reading etc and get the correct inspection there is no reason why you can't beat the odds a little, depends on how much comfort factor you want!

As long as you go in with your eyes open you can get a good car from a private buyer, performance specialist or the 3 Maserati specialists mentioned. In fact you can get a great car privately form say a forum member and a car that's known but the members on here but you will not get that warranty.......as long as you get a good inspection you could get a great buy but if you want true piece of mind then someone like Dicky Grace is the starting point.

IMO you either buy from a respected specialist and get a warranty or you buy private and get an inspection done by a specialist, either way you need to get some one who knows these cars involved.

Thanks AndyK - was it yourself who mentioned that Furlonger were also a reputable firm? This is certainly a contender - http://www.simonfurlonger.co.uk/docs2/cars/EuupEVklpyOyGBbJKm.shtml

It's actually listed on PH for 35k. I think it may have been over priced in the first place

Yep. Just slightly.
I wouldn't pay £35 for it.
Richard Grace has a nice one at the moment. May not be your colour choice, but I would wait for one from him - I am sure he could source, and I think it would be less than that.

I meant 35k - Lovely car but probably low 30s is fairer.

Definitely. I've been eyeing that one up from RG. The Grigio Granito is my preferred choice but Im not sure if I could live with the red interior day to day. Don't get me wrong, it's nice.

Agree on the furlonger, must be low 30's but has the 4.7 wheel which have to add value but I personally like the birdcage

Thats the sort of car I starting looking at. I think it actually works well and I could definitely live with it (like it!) but its all personal opinion. I would trust Richard G v much, have you spoken to him yet?

It will have been checked by auto shield and be in good shape. Its been on a while, so a deal may be done - but its well priced compared to others.

Good luck - go for it, you wont regret it. Stunning cars. I was videod today on three separate occasions driving down one road. The sun and exhaust sound are a great combination.

I have days with the red where I love it then I'm not so sure. I'd prefer to buy from one of the specialists mentioned its just a case of them having the right car. Ideally after a light interior. Its dark up in Yorkshire so need all the light I can get. Itching to get my hands on "the one" and get out there and join the club.

I have spoken to him about it and not so much of a deal to to be done sadly otherwise I'd probably take it.

Cheers Iain,
Tim

I had a look at that car yesterday and the red is not as bright as some of the ones I have seen! All the same, stunning looking car in a great colour!!

You know what I reckon that's half the problem, it photo's pretty bright. So did you pop down Dave and see it in the "flesh"?
