At risk of offending my mate Rune,
‘Lutefisk’ was pretty savage…..gelatinous fish shouldn’t be on anyones wish list.
I think the Swedes do something similar…. Swedish Paul?

A close second are some of the French cheeses that smell like death and taste (I assume) similar. Chianti anyone?
Surströmming.

The biggest jellied eel dealer in the UK delivers them in his Diablo. (Well, he used to, when I had a Diablo also. I imagine he now uses as an Aventador.)

Most horrible thing I’ve (nearly) eaten was a rotten gumbo in a rugby club in the outskirts of New Orleans. But on the upside, we won the tournament, so I carried the trophy triumphantly through Heathrow on our return.

I agree that those French sausages where the 'quality' 'improves' with the number of "AAAAAAAAA" in a string. Vile!
Icelandic smoked trout. There I was having had some delicious unsmoked lox and I thought I'd bring some of their smoked fish back. Remember, they don't have (native) trees in Iceland, so what do they use to smoke? This trout was opened and smelt of stale ashtrays. It tasted like licking a stale ash tray. We promptly wrapped it up three times, froze it (to help abate the stench) and it was put out for St. Bin in its frozen state.

In contrast, something I thought would be vile, but that I found delicious... I came down to breakfast in Sri Lanka at our family home, and there was quite the spread on the table. One bowl contained a bobbing white mass in a creamy yellow sauce. It was cow brain in saffron milk. Texture of poached egg and a delicious delicate beefy flavour - genuinely loved it!

The question was …..
“what was the most disgusting thing you have eaten” I had to read your answer twice coz first time I thought you were saying you had eaten Benny o_O:D
I think Benny would be more palatable than Andouille...maybe a bit too bitter...

I also have a strong aversion to chicken hearts. My wife’s Brazilian and she was introducing me to one of her fellow country people who lived in London. She cooked chicken hearts, something I’d never had before. The texture was awful, a bit like eating the rubber bungs for test tubes.
Thing was, this was the start of our relationship, and being very English and thus polite, I kept on making the right noises and taking another plate, and another…
After my sixth plate I was about to wretch, my wife asked I was even paler than normal, told her.
The laughter and the pisstaking hasn’t really ended, seven years later.
