Hi All,
Sorry, if this has been covered before but has anyone fitted a new ball joint to the front lower Wishbone I did give an old Wishbone to my local factors to see if they could match something up but they lost it! I'm sure there is something out there that could be made to fit with some machining for a fraction of the cost of a new one which are unavailable anyway. Also are there any other track rods available that fit (Inner ball joint advisory) as these seem to be unavailable too
Cheers, Ray

Many have tried and valiantly failed when looking to replace the ball joints in the arms. AS Motorsport seem to have solved it: https://www.sportsmaserati.com/index.php?threads/refurbished-suspension-parts.34951/

For inner tie rods look at: https://www.sportsmaserati.com/inde...-suspension-parts-producer-from-poland.35959/
These guys have been advertising too.

Pretty sure the guy in Australia is making new arms with changeable ball joints.

As I understand it, the first set has been made. I guess there is a period of testing before they are on the market.

Thanks. Found it. Interesting but only rear arms. Something to watch develop. AS Motorsport and VPS offer front and rear. As they look similar does anybody know if AS Motorsport have set pricing for theirs?

They have a website, detail on there. Click on their sponsor link. Or message them.

Thanks. AS Motorsport at €3999 for a complete set is more than double VPS at €1862. Has anybody tried either or know what the difference is?

I suspect the difference is that VPS are in slovenia and have cheaper labour rates..... maybe i'm being cynical. Mine are going to VPS!

It is not so simply to rebulid oe control arms to co costruction with changeable ball joints... After demounting all inside components like ball and plastic bowl - inner thread must be made for new ball joint with outer thread case. After then total thickness of the aluminium control arm chousing will be reduced by app. 3 mm. Control arm will be thinner and therefore weaker. New thread - thread connection must be checked for pull-out. In this control arm we do not do it at all. Refurbishing method is better if is extremally profesional.

Having now found comment elsewhere suggesting that VPS actually supply AS Motorsport I contacted both firms. With a view to establishing their respective scope of service and specfically which elements of the overhaul are carried out in-house. Each firm was mentioned to the other for transparency.

In reply AS Motorsport have confirmed they subcontract the CNC machining but didn't say to who. They also advise the use of 3rd party bushings but don't say whose. Whereas, VPS have confirmed they are in business with AS Motorsport and are their supplier. Interestingly, VPS offer a 3 year warranty whereas AS Motorsport offer 1 year.

I wouldn't say that AS Motorsport were vague in reply but I still can't be certain of what they do. Are they simply acting as agents for VPS? Do they carry out any of the work themselves? In view of respective costs and warranty periods it would be good to know.

As forum sponsors, and in view of the AS Motorsport service being promoted here, perhaps @Zep can extract this information.

I'm happy to ask the question, but I will make some observations upfront. The VPS website says that their refurb includes 8 x ball joints and 16 x bushes. The AS website says they provide CNC ball joints (so 8x), replacement bushes (so 16x) and uprated tie rods - there is no mention of tie rods on the VPS website. These will be the toe control tie rods on the lower rear suspension arms.

The other thing I would note is that AS are offering an exchange service, so they are stocking replacement parts, whereas VPS will rebuild your arms, which presumably will take longer.

What I will say is Adnan at AS is both very knowledgeable and extremely generous with his support and advice, so I would have no issues dealing with him. I've yet to hear from anyone who has dealt with VPS direct, so have no frame of reference to compare the two. So take from that what you will.
